Position Overview:
The
Director of Care (DOC)
is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality care and support services to clients. This leadership role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, drives client satisfaction, supports caregiver training and development, and fosters a culture of compassionate, client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
Care Oversight & Quality Assurance
Lead the development and execution of individualized care plans for clients
Ensure compliance with government regulations, organizational policies, and Home Instead standards.
Monitor service delivery to ensure safety, consistency, and client satisfaction.
Conduct regular quality assurance visits and follow-ups with clients.
Leadership & Team Management
Support the Client Care team, including RPNs, care coordinators, and field staff.
Lead caregiver education and training initiatives, with a focus on dementia care, palliative care, and chronic disease management.
Coach and develop team members to support growth, retention, and high performance.
Client & Family Engagement
Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and their families, responding to concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Build strong relationships with community healthcare providers, hospitals, and case managers.
Participate in care conferences, hospital discharge planning, and community outreach.
Sales & Business Development
Support the growth of the business by building relationships with hospitals, care coordinators, Ontario Health partners, and community organizations.
Participate in consultations and intake visits to assess needs and convert inquiries into ongoing service.
Collaborate with the General Manager and sales team on referral strategies and service expansion opportunities.
Identify trends in client needs and recommend service enhancements to meet demand
Strategic Contribution
Collaborate with senior leadership to align care operations with business goals.
Track key care performance metrics, including client retention, client satisfaction, and incident resolution.
Participate in business development initiatives, proposals, and onboarding of new service streams (e.g., government-funded care).
Qualifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
in good standing with the
CNO
(preferred).
Minimum
3-5 years
experience in community health care or home care.
Experience leading a care team, preferably in a private or non-profit setting.
Strong understanding of Ontario's home care regulations and processes.
Some flexibility required for after-hours or weekend needs.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.
Passion for elder care and improving the lives of seniors.

Job Type: Casual
Pay: $60,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
