Job Summary

The Director of Care reports to the General Manager. Shall provide professional nursing care to all residents and supervise care given in the wellness department. Required to assess all resident needs and planning, implementing and evaluating the care program. Shall work closely with the General Manager, Attending Physicians, Culinary Services and Sales &Marketing. Supervise all staff in wellness department.

Responsibilities

Provide direction and supervision of all Resident Attendant and training, scheduling, ongoing education and development, discipline and conducting annual performance appraisals Ensure staff records are maintained Assess resident conditions before occupancy commences by recognizing signs and symptoms and where necessary initiate remedial health measures on care plan Responsible for admission and discharge of residents Ensure medical records are maintained Contacting residents attending physician when there is a change in residents physical or mental health Responsible for administration of medications and treatments as ordered by residents physician within his/her limitations Provide opportunities wherever possible to involve residents in the planning and provision and evaluation of leisure educational and fundraising activities Coordinate the Volunteer program including recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation Manage department budget organizing and ensuring medications are reviewed every 6 months Ordering medications from Pharmacy as per Doctors orders Ensure there is sufficient staff on duty to provide the services ordered

Qualifications

Current Certificate of competence as a Registered Practical Nurse Knowledge of the Nursing practices and nursing diagnosis Good communication and leadership skills Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations Familiarity with community resources an asset Knowledge of Microsoft Word for Windows or other programs as needed and asset. Infection control Valid drivers license

Pay: $58,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
