The Director of Care & Administrator is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall clinical, operational, and regulatory performance of the home. Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations
Provide overall management of the LTC home, ensuring smooth daily operations and high-quality resident care
Oversee staffing, scheduling, payroll coordination, and workforce planning to meet home needs
Lead and mentor the interdisciplinary team, promoting collaboration, communication, and accountability
Develop and monitor operational policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Long-Term Care inspections, IPAC standards, and organizational protocols
Prepare for and lead audits, inspections, and performance reviews
Manage budgets, cost control, vendor relationships, and resource allocation

Clinical Oversight (Director of Care)
Provide leadership to the nursing team to ensure safe, ethical, and high-standard clinical practice
Oversee resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation
Ensure timely, accurate incident reporting, follow-up investigations, and corrective actions
Support RAI-MDS processes, quality indicators, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
Monitor resident outcomes, risk indicators, and care trends; implement improvement strategies
Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control requirements

Resident & Family Engagement
Build strong relationships with residents and families, addressing concerns promptly and empathetically
Lead or participate in resident care conferences and family meetings
Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and resident-centered care

Human Resources & Team Development
Recruit, onboard, coach, and evaluate nursing and administrative staff
Oversee performance management, staff education, and discipline when required
Foster a positive, supportive work environment that encourages learning, accountability, and retention

Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and workplace safety standards
Champion emergency preparedness, outbreak management, and risk mitigation strategies

Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Minimum 5-7 years leadership experience in long-term care, including Director of Care or Administrator responsibilities
Strong knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Residents' Bill of Rights, and all applicable regulations
Proven success managing teams, budgets, operations, and clinical programs
Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to navigate Ministry inspections, audits, and compliance processes
Advanced organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to build strong resident, family, and staff relationships
Completion of the Administrator Certification Program (preferred or willing to obtain)
