Job Description


Our client is a specialized financial services company based in Huron County, Ontario. With a strong commitment to excellence and innovation, they provide solutions to clients. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Accounting to join their team and lead the accounting department. This is a hybrid position, requiring 3- 4 days each week in- office close to the Hensall, St Mary\'s, Mitchell, Grand Bend, Stratford, and Lucan areas, 40 minutes outside London.

As the Director of Accounting, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the accounting operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to support our business objectives. This position requires a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and experience in the services industry, ideally financial services.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
2. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws, and stay updated on changes in financial reporting requirements.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, including financial forecasting, variance analysis, and providing insights to senior management.
4. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
5. Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
6. Audit and Tax: Coordinate and oversee external audits and collaborate with tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
7. Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
8. Financial Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company\'s growth and profitability goals.
9. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard company assets.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a master\'s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a strong background in the services industry.
- Experience in the financial services industry ideal but not required.
- Proven experience in leading and managing accounting teams.
- In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment.
