We are seeking a Director, Network Deployment & Field Operations to lead a team accountable for the execution of all network implementation activities associated with the fibre to the home and fixed wireless annual build program within Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta & BC). This role requires extensive collaboration across a matrixed organization, including the national Design, Supply Chain, Finance, and Network Operations teams. The ultimate goal of this Director\'s team is to ensure that capital allocated for Network upgrade programs is managed efficiently and on time to deliver on the organization\'s ambitious network build objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop organizational structure with the support of the cross-functional departments to ensure that the Regional team members have the capability to execute on the annual fibre and fixed wireless build plan, and ensure alignment with XCI strategic objectives and goals
  • Lead a team of telecommunications professionals tasked with the detailed design and construction of fibre optics and fixed wireless networks within the region
  • Manage key build KPI\'s to drive the delivery of various fibre and fixed wireless programs to conclusion on time and on budget, proactively identifying risks to successful program delivery and ensure proper mitigation plans are in place to overcome such risks
  • Manage execution of all network build activities. Prepare communication plans for network deployment programs to translate plans into executable deployments
  • Manage the performance of various 3rd party vendors and suppliers
  • Act as the champion of the customer by displaying a customer-focused attitude: recognizing and addressing issues and opportunities relating to the customer experience and satisfaction, escalating when necessary
  • Ensure all safety standards are followed, and federal, provincial, and municipal compliance regulations for owned/managed assets and operations.
  • Develop and manage capital and operational budget under department guidelines, including providing financially efficient stewardship for approved budgets
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • 10+ years of working in the telecommunications industry, with both wireless & wireline network experience
  • 7+ years of working in a senior management position, preferably leading within a large organization
  • Extensive experience with Strategic planning and leadership skills to successfully drive completion of large, multi-stakeholder, complex implementation programs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior executives
  • Experience in People Management roles; mentoring team of engineering/network professionals, recruitment, retaining a team that is collaborative, hard-working and adaptable. Ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results; ability to influence and inspire action through strong decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with other to utilize their resources and knowledge to identify high quality solutions.
  • A strong collaborator that is able to influence process transformations
