Role Summary
The Director of Network and Data Center Services is a leadership role responsible for developing the vision, strategy, and architecture for TMX's entire network and data center ecosystem. This role provides oversight for the resilient, 24x7x365 operation of all network services, data centers, and colocation facilities that form the backbone of TMX's business operations. The Director is accountable for establishing and governing the policies and standards that ensure the network's performance, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements across TMX. This position requires a leader with a strong strategic and operational mindset, responsible for managing key relationships with technology partners and vendors, and collaborating closely with senior leadership across Cybersecurity, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Business Applications to drive a unified network technology strategy and deliver sustained business value.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Planning:Develop and champion a unified, long-term global vision and strategic roadmap for TMX's network and data center services, ensuring direct alignment with enterprise business objectives.
Anticipate future business needs and technology trends, proactively guiding investment and architectural direction to position the network as a strategic enabler of business development and innovation.
Own and manage the departmental budget, ensuring technology investments are cost-effective, transparent, and aligned with strategic priorities across all Global Technology Services.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and IT leadership on all matters related to network technology, strategy, and performance, proactively identifying opportunities for technological advancement.
Architecture, Standards & Governance:Establish and govern a global framework of network and data centre policies, standards, and engineering principles to ensure consistency, security, and operational excellence across the enterprise.
Lead the network and data centre architecture function, overseeing the design of a scalable and secure network fabric that encompasses data centers, client extranets, multi-cloud and intra-cloud connectivity, and corporate offices.
Ensure the network and data centre architecture and operations comply with all relevant industry regulations and data governance policies across all operating jurisdictions.
Represent Network and Data Center Services in governance forums, such as the Architecture & Technology Review Board, to ensure solution designs align with enterprise standards and strategy.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence:Provide oversight for the 24x7x365 reliability, availability, and performance of all network services and data center facilities, ensuring uninterrupted execution of business transactions.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, championing the automation of routine tasks and the evolution of tools and procedures for network administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Oversee the high-level framework for incident, problem, and change management, ensuring mission-critical issues are resolved effectively and service disruption is minimized.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to measure and validate the performance of the network and data center services.
Collaboration & Relationship Management:Govern the strategic relationships with key telecommunication providers, technology vendors, and service partners to optimize performance, value, and alignment with TMX's strategic goals.
Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure security is deeply embedded in all network architectural designs, deployments, and operational practices.
Partner with Business Application and Corporate Technology Services leadership to ensure the underlying network infrastructure robustly supports application performance, data integrity, and evolving business requirements.
Partner with Market Operations and Client Relations teams to ensure network services and data center solutions are aligned with client needs, market requirements, and service delivery expectations.
Engage effectively with IT leadership in each subsidiary to ensure alignment between global strategies and local requirements, facilitating the adoption of enterprise standards while respecting regional needs.
Team Leadership & Development:Lead and develop a world-class, globally-minded team of network professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment across diverse geographical locations and cultures.
Provide strategic mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members to build the capabilities required to execute on the long-term vision.
Establish departmental goals and manage team resources to successfully achieve strategic corporate initiatives.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience & Skills:University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
15+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including significant senior leadership experience in network architecture and infrastructure management in a complex, multi-subsidiary organization.
Proven experience developing and implementing long-term, global network strategies, policies, and roadmaps that have delivered measurable business value.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse global stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
Strong financial acumen with experience developing and managing significant departmental budgets.
Deep understanding of IT infrastructure components, including network, data center technologies, and cloud connectivity in a global context.
Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and ensuring technology compliance.
A visionary and strategic advisor with the ability to influence enterprise-level decisions.
A great leader who excels at building high-performing teams and inspiring others to achieve strategic goals through innovation, quality, and excellence.
Excellent judgment and composure when handling complex, high-pressure situations and escalated issues.
A strong collaborator, skilled at building consensus and managing relationships across diverse and senior stakeholder groups.
Preferred Qualifications:Relevant certifications in IT infrastructure (e.g., ITIL, network, cloud certifications), data governance (e.g., CDMP), IT asset management (e.g., CSAM), information security (CISSP).
Experience in specific industry verticals relevant to the organization, with a global perspective.
Experience with global agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
