As a key member of the Line Maintenance Team, the
Director, Line Maintenance, will
report to the VP, Maintenance & Engineering, and will be responsible for the management, leadership and production of Line Maintenance in accordance with company goals and objectives. The role establishes vision, resource allocation, strategies, and business plans to ensure the efficient operations of the division, while streamlining processes and containing costs.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate regular meetings with leadership and staff to communicate company values, performance expectations, and accountabilities, while fostering a strong team culture.
Using the Corporate and Division strategic plans, work with the management group to promote and support the vision and the direction for the Corporation, Division and Department.
Continuously evaluate and optimize the department's organizational structure to ensure efficiency, clear lines of responsibility, and operational excellence.
Provide ongoing support to management in areas such as personnel training, resource allocation, and scheduling to ensure smooth operations.
Review and approve staffing requisitions for new hires and replacements to maintain optimal staffing levels.
Offer guidance and direction for direct reports on employee relations, including disciplinary actions and staffing decisions, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
Represent Airways' maintenance interests at industry meetings and customer engagements, fostering relationships and advancing the company's reputation.
Oversee and approve expense claims for off-site line maintenance personnel, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Ensure all aircraft are maintained in compliance with IAW/TCCA regulations and Airways' internal policies, safeguarding safety and operational standards.
Manage the company's Aircraft Certification Authority and Receiving Inspection Authorization programs, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
Develop and implement new training initiatives for maintenance staff to enhance safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee the creation and revision of Maintenance Control & Policy Manuals and Standard Maintenance Procedures, ensuring up-to-date documentation.
Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials.
Set production targets, establish monitoring systems, and develop action plans to ensure maintenance activities meet timelines and budget constraints.
Spearhead the integration of new fleets and oversee major modifications or upgrades to existing aircraft, ensuring smooth project execution.
Provide after-hours support for line maintenance and assess AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations to determine urgency and response requirements.
Collaborate with Commercial Services for technical support, RFQ submissions, and other contract negotiations.
Develop long-range business plans with the VP of Airways and VP of Maintenance & Engineering, incorporating fleet expansion, resource needs, and financial goals.
Play an active role in cost-saving initiatives, championing various reduction strategies to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
Review and approve non-routine repair tasks and the associated manhours for aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance.
Actively participate in wage scale reviews, ensuring competitive compensation strategies for the department.
Support Supply Chain and other departments with technical counsel, ensuring seamless procurement processes and repairs.
Provide expertise on lease aircraft agreements and support for component lease agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment with corporate objectives.
Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in the field of Aircraft Maintenance; 5 of which must be in a management role.
A Transport Canada AME M2 Licence
Experience executing corporate policies and guidelines.
Experience Building strategic working relationships.
Proven leadership experience, ability to lead a team and continuous improvement of the department work scope.
High degree of professionalism, integrity, solid ethical standards, and trustworthiness.
Teamwork - must be able to work effectively with the safety team, other Voyageur stakeholders, and Chorus entities.
Superior verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
Demonstrated understanding of finance practices and ability to mentor team members in such processes.
Proven client service management and business growth strategies.
Experience managing various budgets.
