Our industrial properties are located in target distribution markets across Canada, where demand is the highest and we can build a critical mass to enjoy management efficiencies and to accommodate the expansion or contraction requirements of our tenant base. The primary goal of the Director, Leasing is to enhance and create further property value through all aspects of leasing within the assigned Industrial & Office portfolio. Responsibilities primarily include negotiating new leases, lease renewals and amendments. Coordinate with property management, construction and legal departments to ensure successful results. Responsibilities:
  • Support the leasing team to ensure department objectives are achieved.
  • Act as the primary leasing contact for assigned projects.
  • Negotiate all tenant deals, offers, leases for assigned projects.
  • Review and obtain all internal approvals for each deal, leasing assignments/subleases for portfolio.
  • Work closely with property management, construction, legal to ensure properties are maintained in a ?first class manner? and ensures the standardization of lease policies, procedures and documents.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and brokers on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in promoting of all assigned projects and proactively looking for new tenants to fill vacant spaces.
  • Work closely with design and construction groups on developments to ensure maximum efficiencies in layout and amenities are achieved for development projects, attending post and pre design meetings.
  • Provide market rental intelligence to assist in preparing strategic leasing plans as well as unit/tenant specific knowledge to maximize our results during marketing and negotiations.
  • Oversee assigned portfolio leasing budgets, quarterly reforecasting and work with other members of the leasing team in fulfilling various reports and requirements as assigned.
  • Provide regular updates on all projects and transactions as required and continuously monitor performance against budget.
  • Regular travel throughout the GTA as well as Eastern Canada
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education related to real estate, business, and/or finance.
  • Minimum of 8-10+ years? progressive Industrial & Office leasing experience.
  • Financial acumen ? understands the metrics relating to Industrial & Office leasing.
  • Solid understanding of lease documents and real estate terminology.
  • Results-focused
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to liaise with various internal and external parties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including, MS Office Suite, Outlook, Excel.
