Position: Director, IT Vendor Management
Location: Toronto / hybrid
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Our client, a leading retailer, is seeking a motivated Director of IT Vendor Management to lead the IT Vendor Management Office (VMO) and manage a small team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing vision, leadership, and direction for Vendor Management Office Programs and driving value from supplier relationships while overseeing the management of vendor relationships and the integration of key partners to ensure strong and strategic partnerships, cost savings, and enhanced services.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the IT Vendor Management Office (VMO) and manage a diverse team
- Plan, direct, and control daily operations and implement continuous improvement programs
- Establish policies, standards, and strategic frameworks for risk management and exceptions
- Define and implement the IT Supplier Performance Management Program, including vendor selection and KPI measurements
- Oversee vendor relationships and partner with senior management to evaluate vendor performance and optimize spend
- Lead and mentor a small team of vendor management professionals
- Govern relationships, monitor contractual obligations, and optimize value by maintaining strong relationships with Procurement and Legal teams
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in IT Vendor Management leading and executing on strategic vendor management programs (within an IT environment), and navigating complex contract negotiations and competitive price analyses
- Motivated, self-disciplined individual with an ability to operate with limited direction and supervision
- Adept in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and competitive price analysis
- Deep interpersonal and communication skills to foster partnerships, consensus and effective relationships with internal staff, clients and external vendor/suppliers
- Well-developed negotiation and conflict management skills, with the ability to ensure vendors adhere to contract terms, operations service support and service delivery
- Experience establishing and maintaining reporting performance standards and processes including supplier performance scorecards
- Proficiency with vendor management tools and software (e.g., Excel, ServiceNow, etc.)
- Knowledge of Vendor Management, P2P, Project Portfolio Management
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, and the foresight to anticipate opportunities/problems and present effective solutions
