Provident is currently searching for a senior I.T. Leader to join our Senior Leadership Team. We have a steep, pre-contracted, growth trajectory, and our I.T. team, and its future leader, will be an integral part of enabling that growth. Reporting to the President, the Director, I.T. is responsible for the planning, development, management and maintenance of all technology services, programs and support throughout the organization, whether services are carried out internally, or via external Managed I.T. Services. This individual strategically plans the structure and maintains control of the diverse technical operation of the Company in both physical and virtual environments, while playing a hands-on role as partner to the business.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES


I.T. Strategic Leadership: You will develop and implement strategic plans for the IT department that align with the company\xe2\x80\x99s goals, focusing on security, efficiency and innovation in the smart building technology, sub-metering and billing solutions arenas. You will build, lead, manage, and develop the IT team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results- driven work environment.


I.T. Infrastructure Planning and Maintenance:
You will assess the current infrastructure status, plan, prioritize, implement and maintain the infrastructure with a view to facilitating Company growth.


Business Analysis and Project Management:
You will partner with business unit leaders to understand the business, extract and iterate business needs, and translate to determine potential technology solutions, making business cases for existing and/or new technology. You will ensure IT systems are utilized to facilitate compliance with regulatory bodies and applicable legislation, maintaining the functional architecture framework and documentation to keep projects in line.


Network Administration:
You will manage internal and/or external resources to ensure a high level of service delivery to:
  • Support the successful onboarding and offboarding of employees (i.e., network access, security permissions, email set-up hardware and software set-up, maintaining security protocols)
  • Set up equipment as it is delivered
  • Ensure and report on timely and effective response to user questions/problems raised through helpdesk
General I.T. Management: You will have overall responsibility for:
  • Cybersecurity systems, settings, testing and mitigation
  • Continual review of third-party vendor/supplier relationships, ensuring SLA is maintained and cost-effective
  • Managing the IT budget and informing senior management when technical requirements surpass budgetary limits
  • Ensuring training for employees on all IT-related matters, including hardware and software use, as well as performing security tests
  • Review and update of the Company IT/IS and use of systems policies at least annually
  • Formal documentation and management of the disaster data recovery and business continuity plan as it relates to IT functionality including ensuring uninterrupted customer billing, customer service and collection operations
  • Regular participation in meetings, including presenting and/or providing written materials as requested
  • Continual research and awareness of new and emerging technologies and potential applications, offering recommendations for application
  • Regular report generation and presentation to senior management (project status, escalations, user and equipment statistics etc.)
  • Other related duties as assigned to meet Company objectives


REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in computer science or related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of direct work experience in an I.T. management capacity required in a small to medium business enterprise.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and coaching a team
  • Proven experience in managing I.T. infrastructure and services in a smart building or similar technology-driven industry.
  • Strong knowledge of billing systems, I.T. infrastructure, database management and cybersecurity
  • Good collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, operating system, cloud services, and server architectures.
  • Good working knowledge of programming concepts, software development cycles, and associated tools platforms.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion for sensitive information.
  • Strong evidence of time management skills required, including ability to prioritize critical tasks.
  • Able to quickly analyze issues and determine best course of action using available resources.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent project management skills


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office setting with frequent sitting at desk and using computer and peripherals.
  • Occasional travel required to building sites for technology deployment and assessment (generally within GTA).
  • Ability to respond to urgent/emergency I.T. concerns outside of business hours as required.
  • Lifting/pulling/pushing weight up to 40 pounds may be required.
