YOUR ROLE

As the Director of IT you are responsible for all operations and leadership for the Family of Companies (FoC) Infrastructure team. In this role you will report directly to the Vice President of Information Technology, and act as a backup for the senior leader of the overall IT department.

Our culture is based on leading by example, and this role is a combination of our vision, leadership, planning and getting your hands dirty when needed. You will need to have technical skills and support hands-on where required. Since we are growing rapidly, there is a great deal of responsibilities that accompany this role. You will be working with the Business Leaders to align Infrastructure to the day to day and long term vision. If successful you will also be involved in the IT Governance and planning process, including assisting with the development of budgets for Infrastructure across the FoC.

YOUR IMPACT

  • You will be responsible for the Management of the IT Infrastructure staff.
  • You will conduct performance reviews.
  • You will manage hiring and performance management where required.
  • You will support all day-to-day HR related activities.
  • You will manage the overall coordination of day-to-day IT operations and client support through Help Desk ticketing system.
  • You will support purchasing and Vendor management.
  • You will be managing, planning, implementing and maintaining corporate technology infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Desktop, Mobile, server room, power, telephony etc.)
  • You will be managing, planning, implementing and maintaining Network and Security (Firewalls, LAN, WAN, etc.)
  • You will maintain and Manage our Help Desk.
  • You will be managing and planning projects with the help from Project Manager and senior IT leadership.
  • You will be managing and planning the backups and replication; restoring data and test recovery.
  • You will manage infrastructure components of the corporate Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • You may support with occasional evening and weekend and travel will be required when necessary.
  • You will plan and support software upgrades, and hardware upgrades.
  • You will maintain the management of mobile devices and support.
  • You will maintain the management of Domain names and associated tasks.
  • You will be providing telephone & technical support to administration, programming, infrastructure.
  • Some travel between locations, Surrey, Barrie, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto offices.
  • You will be responsible for preventive maintenance; Investigation of running systems to ensure efficiency and discovery of any issues that might be occurring but has not created errors message.
WHAT TO EXPECT

This is a Management position and with this come the responsibilities and dedication required. Some evening and weekend work may be required with the occasional travel to other locations. It is the responsibility of the individual to make sure projects and tasks are completed on time, on budget and with high quality. This role will also include quarterly objectives which will be approved an agreed upon at the start of each quarter and then reviewed at the end of each quarter.

In your first 90 Days you will:
  • Do a comprehensive review of the existing FoC infrastructure, including existing hardware platforms, licensing and underlying network environment.
  • Evaluate existing infrastructure team across the FoC and get a firm understanding of skills, strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop a comprehensive short-term strategy to align with overall IT & Company Strategy.
  • Develop Infrastructure Roadmap for three-year period for the FoC.
  • Immerse into the business to get a firm grasp on the core areas, people and integration of their plans with IT.
  • Complete standard 90 day onboarding process, including one on one\xe2\x80\x99s CEBS, etc..
THIS IS YOU
  • You have a Degree, Certificate or Diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • You have 10+ years\' of progressive experience in a Network Administrator/Support Technician role.
  • You have 5+ years\' experience leading a team in a Supervisor or Management capacity. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and/or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred.
  • You have a Cisco Certification or demonstrated network experience.
  • You have a VMWare Certification or demonstrated experience.
  • You have a Linux Certification or demonstrated experience.
  • You have an A++ Certification.
THIS IS NICE
  • You have attended previous Supervisor, or Management training in a previous role.
  • You have Project management and or Business analyst experience a plus.
  • You have previous experience managing a team in various time zones.
