Our client is one of Canada\'s largest employers. With office across the country, our preference would be talent from Toronto or Montreal. In office presence required on a hybrid basis.

The role: Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this person will provide leadership and direction to the Enterprise and Solution Architecture team for the organization. In this role you will develop and lead a technology strategy and roadmap to meet future business requirements. You will lead a group of Managers that are leading our enterprise, solution and data architects in addition to overseeing the CI/CD best practices for software engineering. The Director will balance their time between developing strategy, leading their teams, focusing on execution, influencing improvements and driving change.

  • Create and promote the long?term architectural vision that is scalable and aligned with business needs and industry best practices.
  • Help transform IT to a product-centric technology operating model seamlessly integrating feature development, operations, security & reliability.
  • Lead a team of Enterprise, Solution, Security, Reliability & Data Architects towards a strategic technical direction and architectural integrity.
  • Collaborate with executive management and the architecture team in defining the architecture strategy and technology roadmap to ensure successful direction for our business.
  • Develop and lead architecture best practices across the organization, partner with key stakeholders across IT and the business as required
  • Pursue the evolution of the architecture function into a collaborative and agile value-added partner to the business and IT stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a great work environment by providing exemplary leadership and by mentoring our emerging leaders and managers within our Architecture teams.
  • Manage a large portfolio of projects in a variety of technologies.
  • Hire outstanding talent that can work in high performing teams.
  • Ensure the soundness of the proposed solutions of all major projects and its alignment with enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure alignment of IT strategy with business strategy by working closely with the enterprise\'s business planning leaders.
  • Scan the external IT environment to provide a common set of planning assumptions, competitive analysis, current and future market assessments for products and services to the business, and a common set of planning processes and tools to assist those with planning responsibility in IT.
  • Build strong inter-personal relationships with peers and other key stakeholders that can help smoothen execution.
  • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise architecture.
  • Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide EA decision making.
Must Have:
  • B.S. degree in Software Engineering or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT architecture for a large organization with experience in leading an enterprise architecture team.
  • Very strong technical leadership in areas like Software Engineering, Infrastructure including Cloud, Security, Reliability, etc.
  • Strong experience in implementing Architecture standards, Governance frameworks (like TOGAF) & Technical Debt Management.
  • Prior experience of performing this role and ability to drive decisions with speed.
  • Necessary financial acumen to better support judgment, business decision making and manage portfolios.
  • Capability to maintain effective relationships within distributed architecture areas like Software engineering, labs, business groups and shared services.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles and process along with the ability to apply this knowledge to execute projects and optimize strategies.
  • Prior experience leading and implementing change within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities and leading teams through transformative change.
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Proven success in budget management of large projects/portfolios and people/team resources.
  • Bilingual (French / English) is a strong asset.
