The Director of R&D IT will oversee the IT strategic direction, project execution and service support delivery for global enterprise R&D applications for Bausch Health. Working in close partnership with the business stakeholders, you will be accountable to create the overall Enterprise IT R&D applications strategy with thorough understanding of end-to-end business processes and identifying gaps, while aligning/creating multi-year enterprise application technology roadmaps for both projects and enhancements. You will be responsible for the creation of the service delivery catalog for IT R&D solutions service offerings and meet strict service levels in a global environment. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with global team experience, solid communication skills and the ability to influence others to action. We are looking for a high energy, self-motivated, results-oriented change leader, who is comfortable working in a global, highly-matrix team-oriented IT environment and has a proven success record to lead transformational initiatives. This role reports into the Vice President Global Manufacturing, S/C, Quality and R&D IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with global and local R&D communities to create and drive our end-to-end business process and enterprise application technology maps forward
  • Accountable for business relationships, application performance and the identification and delivery of new and existing application services within R&D to meet the business unit\'s known and emerging needs
  • Accountable for building, managing and delivering a R&D IT portfolio of applications programs, projects and enhancements that improve business process capabilities
  • Develop and manage an IT R&D Service Delivery catalog working with senior leaders in the business
  • Direct and evaluate feasibility studies, project scoping and project planning for R&D applications projects.
  • Develop ROI based business cases by partnering with business stakeholders, developing and implementing strategies for large cross-functional, multi-threaded programs which have several projects within the program.
  • Develop and continuously provide annual updates to strategic plans and multi-year roadmaps in support of Annual Operating Plan. Advocate solution analysis, business requirements, cost benefit analysis, risk assessment and business impact analysis.
  • Manage production support for all R&D solutions, its integrations and customizations ensuring responsiveness to customer requests and quality of work.
  • Define, plan and direct the execution of a broad range of R&D IT projects, while balancing the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, resources and risk.
  • Accountable for setting and managing priorities and schedules for IT R&D resources and level-set demand and expectations with business stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership to drive high cost/high benefit large scale projects from ideation thru implementation.
  • Drive and manage releases, team capacity planning and priorities related to R&D related systems projects, enhancements, support delivery and its integrated solutions
  • Manage relationships with various technology vendors and business stakeholders to achieve project, enhancement and service support delivery for the IT R&D application portfolio.
  • Manage defined set of business applications or technologies to ensure performance according to business needs and IT standards, upgrades, performance, functionality enhancements, security, validation and general maintenance.
  • Coach/mentor team members, including dotted-line reports as necessary. Align team members in roles to best take advantage of their strengths and to grow/diversify their skill-sets.
  • Develop peer, cross functional and cross business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.
  • Dedicated to quality end business user service and pro-active and responsive to business partner needs.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 15 years IT experience, within a comparably sized or larger multi-national company, is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of IT leadership experience in areas of responsibility and in similar, broad based, senior level roles, is required. Must have strong people management experience with direct reports.
  • Must have a 10 to 12-year proven track record of performing in the enterprise applications R&D systems.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working within the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Track record of leading and delivering successful rollouts of R&D that are compliant and secure, working in collaboration with Quality and Information Security teams.
  • Familiarity working with industry regulations (i.e. MDR) and data security and privacy standards is a huge plus.e.g. HIPAA, GDPR.
  • Experience working effectively with business functional teams, remote development teams, and cloud hosted or SaaS vendors and partners, in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly-matrix environment.
  • Strategic thinker, keeping big picture in mind while ensuring execution excellence.
  • Possess a strong business and customer/client focus
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written), collaboration and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact and influence variety of users and senior management.
  • Experience in vendor relations and negotiations for software development and application services.
  • Experience with deep understanding of IT applications and technology.
  • Balance of strong business process knowledge and experience. Implement a mix of package software with some custom to meet business needs.
  • Strong Program/Project management skills are a must. Demonstrated success in leading Plan and direct multiple strategic project portfolios activities including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects. Lead in identifying risk, developing complex mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, critical path, resolving issues, etc. in collaboration with project managers.
  • Skilled at aligning organization and business goals, with success driving organizational change management.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate attention to end goal.
  • Must be passionate about current technological trends and ability to apply to the future vision.
  • Demonstrates strong customer, quality, cost and delivery focus.
  • Experience working with 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP software validated systems a plus.
  • Very strong negotiation and influence capability is required.
Education:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or Business Administration is required; a master\'s degree is preferred.
