The Director, Infrastructure Construction will be responsible for managing all scopes of work, trade contract awarding, and administration for construction projects from conception to completion. The Director will ensure deliverables are met in a timely and cost-effective manner, as well as according to quality and Inuvialuit standards. This full-time position is based in Inuvik, NT, or Calgary, Alberta, which may require up to 40% travel. The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience, and knowledge (please refer to job description for full details): Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of construction processes and practices.
  • Highly competent in quantity take-offs, budgeting, and negotiating with trades and suppliers on non-standard pricing and for extras to contract.
  • Proven track record of coordinating and assisting in the formulation of planning, design, and implementation of commercial projects.
  • Excellent computer skills - good understanding of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and developing teams in a construction management environment, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Proven track record of successfully establishing and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other performance metrics to evaluate project success, inform future decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in construction projects.
Education:
  • Completion of an architectural or engineering technical school program or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, with regular travel to construction sites across the region.
  • Estimated travel 40% of the time, depending on the stage of the build.
  • May require frequent weekend and evening work to achieve deadlines and projects as determined by executive management.
  • May be required to work in adverse weather conditions and under hazardous working conditions, which may require the use of specialized equipment.
