Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Shared Health- Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg has an exciting opportunity for a director health services who will provide oversight and direction to technical, clinical and clinical support staff in the integrated delivery of routine to complex health services in the assigned service area of AREA. Reporting to the Executive Director (Acute or Ambulatory Care and Clinical Supports) this position will:

Inspire and lead health services staff to embrace and adopt integrated, patient-centered care pathways by:

  • Providing service-delivery focused operational leadership to health services to support patients in accessing multiculturally respectful health services
  • Managing and delivering services within the assigned area of accountability to support overall organizational requirements
  • Managing organizational change in the assigned service area including recommending and implementing policy, procedures, standards and practices related to the systems and services in the assigned area(s) to meet ongoing needs in a dynamic environment
  • Supporting and participating in approved projects designed to improve health services
  • The ideal candidate for this position will bring:
Experience
  • 7 years of progressive management experience leading a broad spectrum of health services in a large, publically funded health services delivery organization
  • 7 years of direct clinical services delivery in a clinical area of health care
  • 3 years of experience participating in operational planning, implementing operational directives, and achieving formal quality, patient safety, service integration and partner collaboration goals and objectives
  • 3 years of experience building and leading a high-performing, interdisciplinary team in a publically funded health services delivery organization including influencing and collaborating with senior management
  • Previous experience leading in a unionized environment is an asset
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant health discipline from an accredited education institution
  • A postgraduate degree is an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated senior leadership capabilities as defined by the
framework

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 10 kg
  • Interruptions to respond to questions from senior management in the organization, third-party compliance bodies, and vendors are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled
  • Travel for meeting or other purposes may be required - a valid Manitoba driver's license
