Appleby College is seeking an experienced and dedicated
Director, Health Centre
to lead both the clinical care and daily operations of our Health Centre. This role will support the health, safety, and well-being of our students and campers, while fostering a caring, student-focused environment. HOW YOU WILL THRIVE:
As the Director, Health Centre, you will oversee the daily administrative operations of our Health Centre while providing clinical hands-on nursing care as needed. In this leadership role, you will manage a team of dedicated health professionals, ensuring that policies, procedures, and best practices are followed. You play a key role in guiding the development and implementation of health and wellness initiatives, fostering a safe and supportive environment for the broader school community.
HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:
Lead the administrative and clinical operations of the Health Centre, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management
Maintain accurate, confidential student health records and information systems, ensuring compliance with PHIPPA and public health regulations
Collaborate with Halton Public Health and other partners to implement immunization programs, flu clinics, and other health initiatives on campus
Prepare and maintain first aid kits and medical supplies for on-campus and off-campus activities, including international and service trips
Provide administration oversight to all students' registrations, insurance claims and immunization requirements
Supervise, mentor, and support Health Centre staff, promoting professional growth, performance management, and mandatory training compliance
Provide direct nursing care, including first aid, illness/injury assessment, chronic condition management, and care planning for students with complex health needs
Serve as the primary contact for student health emergencies, coordinating care, transportation, and communication with families and healthcare providers
Support boarding student health, including onboarding, medical appointments, and care during move-ins or school programming
Develop and deliver training and educational programs for staff and students, covering first aid, AED use, anaphylaxis response, concussion management, and trip-specific medical preparations
Act as a proactive health resource for the Appleby community, fostering prevention, awareness, and collaboration between nursing staff, faculty, and administration
Provide support to ancillary activities during March Break and summer programs as required
Partner with the Nurse Practitioner to prioritize student health and coordinate care
WHAT YOU BRING
Member in good standing with the Collegeof Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Current CPR and AED certification with annual recertification
Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing nursing teams
Outstanding administrative skills
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration and teamwork
Knowledge of evidence-based practices and commitment to a healthy workplace culture
Experience in mental health and student wellness is considered an asset
Proficiency in MS Office suite; experience with health information systems (e.g., Magnus) is an asset
