DIALOG is a multi-disciplinary collaborative of architects, interior designers, urban designers and planners, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and landscape architects who design for community wellbeing and urban vibrancy.

The Role

The Director, Marketing and Business Development is a key member of DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s senior management team \xe2\x80\x93 operating practice-wide (i.e., global) \xe2\x80\x93 and will serve as a strategic collaborator and resource to the practice\xe2\x80\x99s and its Partners. Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Director will lead an international team to support the organization\xe2\x80\x99s overall business objectives.

How you will make a difference:

By providing practice-wide leadership

  • Build, lead, and nurture DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s Marketing and Communications mandate, operating model, and team, including the creation and execution of targeted marketing and business development strategies, reputation-building, and internal and external communications.
  • Steward DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s multiple communication platforms, including DIALOG website, intranet, social media, marketing collaterals, award submissions, events, and relationships with our marketing and PR consultants.
  • Articulate and execute practice-wide strategies to refine our market strategy, prioritize market sectors and project opportunities, clarify and express our value proposition, and elevate DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s reputation in targeted sectors as a high-value, purpose-driven, design practice.
By enabling a high performing and aligned team
  • Lead an international team; coaching, mentoring and promoting the highest level of service and support to the Partners in their marketing, business development and community/industry engagement efforts.
  • Enable data-rich processes to allow us to track project opportunities, measure performance, identify trends, and inform our approaches and policies for continual improvement.
  • Empower the strategic management of DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s marketing investments and financial plans, including reporting and performance, and as applicable with resources including but not limited to vendors and suppliers.
By being highly collaborative
  • Develop collaborative relationships and trust with DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s Partners, Management Team, project teams, and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives outlined in DIALOG\xe2\x80\x99s Strategic Plan.
  • Enable the highest level of service to Partners and project teams in their marketing, business development, and community/industry engagement efforts so that they are well equipped to position themselves in the marketplace and win work.
  • Create and execute a Marketing and Communications Plan for DIALOG, with short-, medium-, and long-term horizons, working closely with the Managing Partner and Practice Chair.

  • Collaborative. Naturally engaging across the practice (and beyond) to generate the understanding, support, and buy-in needed to achieve ambitious goals. Able to provide leadership and work collaboratively with a diverse, geographically dispersed, and high-performing marketing and communications team.
  • Experienced. Knowledgeable of the subject-matter means and methods, including traditional and emerging media \xe2\x80\x93 with minimum of 8 years Director level experience in a professional services organization overseeing strategic and operational marketing, business development, and communications functions. Experience with design practices an asset.
  • Articulate. Strong communicator, through different platforms: presentations, written, interpersonal, and other.
  • Positive. Dynamic, motivated, self-directed, and pro-active.
  • Inspiring. With proven track record of coaching and motivating teams.
  • Organized and Responsive. Able to manage a team across multiple studios and engage with the diverse needs of Partners.
  • Versatile. Able to adapt to the needs and priorities of the practice as the role evolves, plans unfold, and success milestones are achieved.
