What you'll do

BCCHF is looking for a strategic financial leader to join our team and support us in making a difference in the lives of children and families across BC. Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Finance provides strategic and operational leadership in financial planning, reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This position plays a key advisory role, ensuring our financial strategies align with BCCHF's values and purpose.

More specifically, this role will:

Lead Financial Strategy and Oversight:

Shape and execute BCCHF's financial strategy, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with GAAP and CRA regulations, and effective budgeting and forecasting.

Lead Donor Services:

Provide leadership to the Donor Services team, ensuring compliance in tax receipting, revenue recognition, and reconciliation processes.

Drive Operational Excellence:

Oversee audits, filings, and cost management for fundraising activities, while implementing continuous improvements in financial systems and internal controls.

Oversee Lottery Programs:

In partnership with the CFO, oversee two annual lotteries, including developing the overall strategy, budgets and managing internal and external reporting requirements.

Champion Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor a team of finance and donor service professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.

Engage Stakeholders:

Build strong relationships across internal teams and external partners, including auditors, banks, vendors, and healthcare stakeholders, to support BCCHF's mission and financial sustainability.

What you bring

We understand that no single candidate will perfectly meet all the qualifications outlined for this job posting. The following highlights the qualifications we consider important:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, complemented by 10+ years of related experience with at least three years of team leadership experience. CPA designation. Working knowledge of current GAAP, PCI, commodity taxes, restricted fund accounting, as well as BC gaming regulations. Excellent computer skills, including MS Office Applications, financial and database systems. PeopleSoft experience an asset. Strong customer-centric focus. Familiarity with Canadian legal frameworks for corporations and charitable sector statutory requirements. Strong communication, problem-solving, and change management skills. Ability to act independently and objectively in making decisions and presenting options to stakeholders. Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred. The hiring range for this position is between $134,890 and $160,000. At BCCHF, we are committed to ensuring that compensation is fair and equitable. Your placement in the salary range will be determined by your experience, relevant skills, and qualifications as they relate to this role.
