POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Engineering - Solar PV Mounting Systems provides strategic and technical leadership for Polar Racking's engineering organization. This role is responsible for setting the engineering vision, driving product excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and aligning engineering execution with company growth objectives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Engineering Strategy & Leadership



Establish and execute the engineering vision, structure, and operating model Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers, Senior Engineers, and technical leaders Define performance expectations, succession plans, and organizational capability Foster a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement

Technical Governance & Design Excellence



Provide executive oversight of engineering calculations and FEA-based structural analysis Ensure compliance with CSA, UL, IBC/ASCE, and local AHJ requirements Act as the final technical authority for solar PV mounting system design decisions Approve engineering standards, reviews, and system releases

Product Lifecycle & Cross-Functional Integration



Oversee engineering lifecycle from concept through fabrication and production release Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency Support Sales with technical input for proposals and client engagement Ensure project planning, resourcing, and risk management

CAD, Manufacturing & Operational Alignment



Provide oversight of CAD standards and drawing quality Coordinate material releases and production schedules Drive standardization and design efficiency initiatives

Compliance, Certification & Quality



Lead engagement with third?party testing and certification bodies Maintain engineering quality systems and audit readiness Ensure compliance with company policies and Health & Safety programs

Innovation & Strategic Contribution



Drive product innovation and technical differentiation Support long?term product roadmap and growth strategy Identify and mitigate technical and regulatory risks

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



Required



Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada 10-15+ years of progressive engineering experience 7+ years in senior engineering leadership roles Experience with solar PV mounting systems or engineered construction products Strong expertise in FEA-based structural design Proven leadership of multi?disciplinary teams Deep knowledge of North American codes and standards

Preferred / Asset



Manufacturing or product-based engineering environment experience Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools Experience with UL certification and third?party testing Exposure to U.S. and Canadian solar markets
