The Scotiabank Planning Team is a high-performing, flexible team that operates at the intersection of the business, technology, product, design and delivery accountable for the planning of prospective Scotiabank projects. We work closely with business and technology partners across the bank, as well as Scotiabank senior management, business operations teams, product teams, engineering teams, and delivery professionals to advance the Bank\'s strategy.

Reporting into the Head Of, Digital Business Operations, the Director, Digital Business Operations for Planning Execution will lead a team accountable for planning the successful delivery of a portfolio of potential projects and initiatives within the bounds of the Scotiabank Planning cycle. Specifically devising and implementing strategies, plans, metrics, and measures which create greater operational effectiveness for the assigned portfolios.

  • Lead planning efforts within the assigned portfolio, as required, orchestrating matrixed teams of Product, Engineering, Design, and Delivery stakeholders, taking ownership of generating high quality plans through the Scotia Digital planning cycle while meeting service level metrics and adhering to defined prioritization and governance principles preserving Scotia Digital\'s employee\'s life/work balance
  • Lead a team of planning resources focused on a specific portfolio of proposed projects and initiatives driving continuous improvement and effectiveness, and a great employee working experience in the achievement of Digital Business Operations Office\'s goals and desired outcomes
  • Accountable for integration of Scotia Digital plans with Bank technology, business, and vendor partners and ensures effective dependency planning across all stakeholders
  • Accountable for high-quality communications produced for the assigned portfolio of projects that distill complex concepts about assigned projects in easy-to-understand formats for consumption by a wide variety of stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Embed a \xe2\x80\x9cwhat gets measured, gets done\xe2\x80\x9d mindset into portfolio operational metrics and methods to foster a continuous improvement mindset
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank\'s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank\'s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams
  • Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout portfolio teams to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Build and maintain relationships with department heads, Digital Enterprise Architecture, Product and Engineering teams, teams across the bank, external partners & vendors to drive operational effectiveness and achievement of strategic goals and desired outcomes
  • Build a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates portfolio teams by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/portfolio strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the teams
  • Create an environment in which portfolio teams pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Demonstrated senior level experience in large-scale operational management, in highly complex organizations
  • Significant experience with leading high-performing teams, as well as experience with project and program planning & delivery models and methodologies
  • Significant experience with expectations management, change management and operational transformation programs
