Manulife Bank is seeking a visionary and results-driven professional to lead our Digital & Payments Strategy team.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining the strategy and building roadmaps to advance our digital and payments position in the market and ensuring the Bank meets its objectives. Your digital thought leadership, payments expertise, experience working with Fintechs, ability to understand markets, demographics, and technology will be key in building out the strategy and business casing key initiatives.

You will be responsible for leading and contributing to teams who are passionate about developing great experiences that provide value to our customers. You are adept at knowing how to navigate and positively influence an organization cross functionally and you have a demonstrated ability to balance long-term product strategy with near term goals. You are naturally curious, have a love for data and have a proven track record at making data driven decisions. You take initiative and know how to monetize and evangelize a vision. This role will have a small team of Strategy professionals reporting to them and will be responsible for coaching and career development.

Responsibilities:

Digital Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Digital Sales and Adoption objectives.
  • Identify emerging digital trends, assess market opportunities, and collaborate with senior leadership to define a roadmap for digital transformation.
  • Identify near and long-term initiatives that can drive business growth, enhance revenue streams, improve operational efficiencies, increase customer satisfaction, and improve profitability.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations with external stakeholders such as technology vendors, Fintechs, and industry leaders. Evaluate and negotiate partnerships that can enhance our digital capabilities, expand our market reach, and drive competitive advantage.
  • Leverage data analytics, market research, and customer insights to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the digital space
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish measurement frameworks to track the effectiveness and impact of digital initiatives.
  • Analyze data, identify insights, and update leadership around any challenges and recommendations for optimization.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, digital trends, and industry best practices. Make recommendations on adopting innovative solutions to drive digital transformation.
  • Document maturity models for key capabilities, identifying technology investments required to bring these capabilities to full profitability
  • Build and lead a high-performing digital strategy team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Develop talent, provide guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team\'s success in executing digital initiatives.
Payments:
  • Lead the Bank in the payments space- build and lead the roadmap for digital payments at Manulife Bank
  • Explore innovative payments solutions by building seamless, connected, personalized and digital focused payments experiences
  • Proactively stay abreast of new players in the payments space, identifying and business casing early partnership/strategic investment opportunities
  • Stay connected with payments forums and demonstrate leadership in the payments space
  • Represent Manulife Bank in payments modernization with Payments Canada, and define Manulife Bank\xe2\x80\x99s needs and role in the RTR initiative
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging business models prevalent with market players like Amazon, Apple, PayPal, Square to identify opportunities
  • Own business development opportunities from ideation to project inception
  • Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders (e.g., Fraud Management) to Cultivate business cases and drive the sales cycle through research, prototyping, testing to delivery

What we are looking for:
  • 5-10 years of relevant digital and payments experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in digital banking
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data to drive sales results
  • Experience in putting ideas and plans on paper to sell a vision
  • Sophisticated level of experience turning complex business problems into successful digital experiences
  • Experience using human centered design principals, to deliver value for customers
  • Both big picture thinking and detail-oriented doing.
  • Deep understanding of technology and platforms and how to use technology to deliver digital results
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance considerations in the digital landscape.
  • Proven experience in Digital payments and business architecture
  • Previous experience in financial services and delivering on P&L objectives
  • Experience in people development and leading/building high performing teams.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between $100,500.00 CAD - $180,900.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
