Requisition ID: 200028Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Director will work closely with IB\'s divisional leadership team (Finance and business) and the country finance teams to assure consistency amongst processes, methodologies, and analysis. The Director will contribute to the overall success of the International Banking Financial Planning & Analysis team in Toronto, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:Analysis:

  • Analyze financial performance by segment and country, by supporting and monitoring appropriate performance measurement criteria and key metrics. Analysis of results includes the Forecast, MD&A, Stress Test, Investor Presentations, Board Slides, Quarterly reporting, supplementary and senior management balance score card
  • Perform deep dive analysis on a regular basis to provide insights to senior management about business results of the division
  • Build financial models to centrally prepare ad-hoc analyses or consolidate information to review variances, trends, or sensitivity analysis, among others
Advisory:
  • Provide advisory to local FP&A in country teams to ensure the correct methodology and processes are being used in their activities
  • Coordinate with the Strategy team all analysis and information required for their deliverables
Control:
  • Interact with IB FP&A Directors, Country FP&A and Segment Leads (Directors & VPs) to assure consistent data quality of the deliverables
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial results and the timely completion of financial reporting
Other:
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We\'d love to work with you if you have:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related fields
  • MBA or Master\'s in finance is an asset
  • CFA, CPA, or other designations are an asset
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
  • Minimum 8-10 years of work experience
  • Banking or financial services experience
  • Experience in financial reporting, planning, analysis
  • Highly familiar with accounting practices, taxation, and transfer pricing
  • Previous experience with financial reporting and planning tools (EGL, Hyperion, OBI, Smartview)
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal as well as presentation) skills;
  • Excellent computer skills - Proficient in Excel (advanced modelling, macros, VBA)
