Job Number: REQ6329 Location: Calgary or Edmonton #LI-Hybrid Apply by: Sunday June 18, 2023 Paygrade: N - OTH # Positions available: 1 System Job Title: Leader 9 Corporate Investigation Leader Name: MD, Assurance and Corporate Investigations Is this position Internal Only: As ATB\xe2\x80\x99s next Director of Corporate Investigations (CI), you are an experienced leader with strong knowledge of investigative practices, financial services, have a passion for continuous improvement and an affinity for coaching others with empathy. You develop and grow strong relationships with peers and are a sought-after source of guidance. You value the opportunity to build high performing, motivated teams while coaching others in the optimization of the planning, coordination and reporting of investigation results. You are a player/coach who takes ownership and delivers on specific investigations and strategic initiatives while also leading team members to deliver on their objectives. Under the leadership of the Managing Director, Assurance and Corporate Investigations, this role is responsible for the leadership of the Corporate Investigations team. You will co-create a vision, with the support of the Managing Director, for the future of corporate investigations including the continuous monitoring program. The Director is responsible for leading, coordinating, supporting and reporting on key department activities and initiatives such as the operating plan and investigation themes. As the Director, Corporate Investigations, you have a bias for action and are committed to connecting, caring and coaching team members to their fullest potential. The primary focus of the Director, Corporate Investigations is to:

  • Continuously seek ways to get things done in challenging circumstances with multiple competing priorities while inspiring the team to achieve exceptional results
  • Provide guidance and support to investigators and analysts as they conduct thorough, highly sensitive and confidential investigations into team members suspected of criminal or ethical misconduct
  • Provide quality assurance and oversight of all investigations to ensure deliverables (eg. reports, court briefs and evidentiary exhibits) conform to established methodologies and are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Conduct investigations, prepare investigative reports and present evidence to senior leadership, law enforcement and in court
  • Periodically review the Investigator\xe2\x80\x99s Handbook and supporting methodology to ensure these resources remain current and continue to add value
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance of CI\xe2\x80\x99s case management system and dashboard to ensure effective tracking, management and timely reporting of all investigations
  • Lead the recovery of losses as a result of internal theft/fraud
  • Research, develop, implement and maintain a series of internal fraud detection strategies as part of CI\xe2\x80\x99s continuous monitoring program
  • Leading with a growth mindset, provide support and feedback to team members to assist them as they draft their personal and professional development plans as part of their annual performance planning activities (Betterworks)
  • Support the Vice-president and Managing Director with reporting to ATB executives, senior management, the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors by gathering, consolidating and analyzing information for your area of responsibility
  • Actively participate with other members of the leadership team in setting and achieving departmental strategic goals and objectives
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Law, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Business, Finance or a related field;
  • Designation as a Certified Forensic Investigator (CFI) and/or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) would be considered an asset;
  • Typically 10+ years related experience (combinations of investigative, banking and leadership experience will be considered);
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work in a team environment;
  • Proven time management and administration skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrates a passion for continuous improvement, high intellectual curiosity and desire to continuously learn; and
  • Must have a valid class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel as required.
