JOB SUMMARY:





The Director, Community Mental Health and Addictions provides strategic and operational leadership for community-based mental health and addictions programs across Lakeridge Health. This role ensures the planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, high quality, and client-centered services that align with the organization's strategic priorities. As one of the largest systems of mental health and addictions this role provides leadership for Durham Mental Health Services, Pinewood Addiction Services and the Distress Centre Durham with possible additional outpatient teams.

Reporting to the Senior Director Mental Health and Addictions, the Director oversees the development and coordination of programs while mentoring and supporting a team of dynamic leaders who manage day-to-day operations. A key focus of this role is building strong collaborative and integrated teams. The ability to be a strategic and visionary leader grounded in partnerships to advance integrated, collaborative care is critical to this role as we strive to improve outcomes for clients, families, and the community.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





Establish and implement clinical and strategic priorities aligned with corporate and annual business plans. Oversee safe, high quality, and efficient community mental health and addictions services through effective strategic, operational, and financial planning. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in care quality, safety, and service delivery. Lead the ongoing integration of Lakeridge Health's Mental Health and Addictions Program with Durham Mental Health Services (DMHS). Ensure strong communication, collaboration, and integration across programs and services to meet organizational goals. Monitor program performance to meet or exceed Ministry of Health and Ontario Health - East targets and quality benchmarks. Lead human resources planning, recruitment, development, and performance management, fostering a supportive and accountable workplace. Coach and mentor program leaders to strengthen leadership capacity, team performance, and succession planning. Create a culture of safety, quality, and client-centered care that meets evidence-based and accreditation standards. Oversee systems for monitoring care standards, outcomes, client satisfaction, and safety reviews, ensuring continuous quality improvement. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with health, social service, and community organizations to support integrated care. Collaborate with clients, families, and community partners to identify and address gaps in services and enhance the continuum of care. Represent Lakeridge Health within regional networks and professional forums to advance mental health and addictions care. Promote a positive, innovative, and interprofessional work environment that supports learning, collaboration, and staff engagement.


QUALIFICATIONS:





Master's degree in a Clinical, Healthcare, or Social Services discipline (required) Current registration and good standing with a recognized healthcare regulatory college (required) Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical experience (required) Minimum of five (5) years in progressive clinical leadership roles (preferred) Extensive experience and expertise in both addictions and community mental health (preferred) Demonstrated success in leading and delivering clinical programs and services Proven ability to foster collaboration, innovation, and team development Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) Demonstrated commitment to excellence in client care, partnership building, change leadership, and system integration
