Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Cloud Director to lead the evolution of our public cloud services and drive the development of a next-generation IT platform. You will collaborate closely with Infrastructure, DevOps, and Application teams to architect, deliver, and secure innovative cloud solutions. This role requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills to foster a culture of automation, security, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the IT organization.
ResponsibilitiesServe as the Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing leadership and guidance across the organization to enhance cloud proficiency and maturity.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve Arrowstreet Capital's cloud security posture, ensuring the highest standards in compliance and operational risk management.
Champion an automation-first mindset, leveraging tools and frameworks to streamline cloud operations and drive efficiency.
Architect and deliver cloud frameworks and services that strengthen production reliability, scalability, and security.
Evaluate and onboard business-critical cloud services, maintaining a security-first approach and compliance with industry regulations.
Manage a team of 6 cloud professionals, overseeing sprint planning, delivery milestones, prioritization, and professional development.
Foster a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, encouraging knowledge sharing, innovation, and accountability.
Lead and mentor the Cloud Team, setting strategic direction and managing team performance.
Oversee the design, deployment, and automated operation of AWS (primary) and Azure (secondary) cloud services, ensuring robust security controls and operational excellence.
Provide advanced technical expertise in AWS, Azure, and emerging cloud technologies like GenAI, focusing on architecture, engineering, and day-to-day operational support.
Drive and participate in deep architectural discussions, problem-solving sessions, and design reviews to ensure resilient solutions and effective governance.
Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with Infrastructure, DevOps, Applications, and security teams; promote transversal leadership and alignment on shared objectives.
Educate, coach, and upskill team members and stakeholders on cloud technologies, automation, security, and best practices.
Make strategic decisions that balance business value, risk posture, and technical constraints.
Guide multiple cloud work streams through the design and implementation of targeted change initiatives, including communications, training, stakeholder alignment, and documentation for long-term sustainability.
Ensure cloud environments are compliant with relevant regulations and internal policies; maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and third-party cloud service providers.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in cloud engineering or architecture roles; experience managing teams required.
Proven enterprise experience onboarding, securing, and operating cloud services at scale, preferably in financial services or similarly regulated industries.
Hands-on expertise with AWS security tools/concepts: SCP, KMS, GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM, VPC Endpoints and policies, Macie, Inspector v1/v2.
Proficient in Python, with deep experience using Boto3 and related libraries for cloud automation and operations.
Advanced knowledge of cloud computing concepts, architecture, and best practices; familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies: Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
Experience designing, securing, and managing container orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native workloads from proof-of-concept to production.
Operational experience with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban project management methodologies.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills for complex technical issues spanning multiple technologies.
Ability to work with vendors, senior management, and staff at all levels.
Experience in financial services or other regulated sectors is highly desirable.
