Your Opportunity:
The Area 6 Director works in close partnership with the Community Medical Director as part of the operational leadership team in each Alberta Health Services (AHS) Zone. The Area Director and Community Medical Director are jointly accountable and responsible for overseeing and leading an operational management team in the planning, delivery, and coordination of a sustainable and integrated health system for their assigned area of responsibility in each Zone for the communities of McLennan, High Prairie, Slave Lake and Wabasca. The Area Director and Community Medical Director function in the AHS dyad leadership model in which a clinical operations and medical leader are partnered in a shared decision-making relationship. In general, the Area Director provides an operations perspective and the Community Medical Director ensures a clinical focus as they jointly make all major decisions and recommendations. The responsibilities and accountabilities of the Area Director and Community Medical Director overlap significantly but each also has his/her own focus. Although the reporting relationships are different, their annual performance targets are largely identical. The dyad model conducts rigorous performance management and improvement. Additionally, the dyad provides for the delivery and guidance for the administration and implementation within their area of responsibility related to Zone-specific matters, including establishment of a framework for the delivery.
