Director, Clinical Operations

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

The Director, Clinical Operations, reports to the Senior Executive Director, and provides a key leadership role for direct front-line BCEHS managers and supervisors supporting paramedics. With responsibility for BCEHS programs and services, this position is integral to the delivery of provincial strategic initiatives supporting the BCEHS strategic plan. This strategic leadership role is accountable for a specific Clinical Operations portfolio. High-level responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the frontline operations of BCEHS including accountability for operational deliverables and action plans for the Clinical Operations program.
  • Responsibility for a BCEHS geographical-area team of frontline managers including indirect accountability and responsibility for a team of bargaining unit supervisors and/or paramedics in the provision of quality patient care delivery and out-of-hospital health services.
  • Monitoring system performance and, in cooperation with internal/external stakeholders, taking appropriate action to mitigate and prevent impacts to patient care delivery; supporting development of continuous quality improvement initiatives related to system performance to obtain optimization of resources, improved efficiency and quality patient-focused care.
  • Managing employee relations issues, including disciplinary action and dismissals; collaborating with the Senior Executive Director, Labour Relations and Human Resources staff on provision of support for grievance mediation, recruitment and selection planning, and performance management.
What you bring
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in health, business administration or a relevant health care discipline, or an equivalent level of education, training, and experience
  • 10+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in senior leadership roles within public health or health care services with significant responsibility for operational management in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements related to health, BCEHS and EMS systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience in communicating and engaging effectively with physician groups, internal stakeholders, external senior-level health care partners, and others key groups / regulatory bodies
  • Effective leadership of individuals and groups; ability to set clear, meaningful and measurable expectations and outcomes, integrating organizational goals into target outcomes
Skills & Knowledge
  • Understanding of various reports including Truth & Reconciliation Commission\xe2\x80\x99s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC\'s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), In Plain Sight, Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Models and supports full team commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
  • Demonstrates humility and heart-led leadership.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC\'s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Salary Range: $113,195.00 - $141,494.00 / Year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate\xe2\x80\x99s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
