Job Overview


As the Director, Claims - Auto Technical Strategy, this role will lead the Future of Auto Claims Strategy in collaboration with the Digital Office and be accountable for all technical processes, initiatives, and technical training for the claims auto line across all Wawanesa Regions. Key focus areas are quality, consistency, fairness and driving member Net Promoter Scores (NPS) through continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities

  • Leads Wawanesa\xe2\x80\x99s strategy around auto claims handling practices and technical training to ensure adjusters provide members with an exceptional claims experience
  • Owns technical accountability for Claims and FNOL establishing guidelines, reviewing complex coverage issues across the multiple lines of business, coverage analysis, investigation of liability and damages, recoveries and salvage management, evaluation of claims for reserve settlement and implementation of settlement strategies to ensure timely adjudication
  • Keeps the member experience at the center of our decisions optimizing people, processes and technology assisting the Operations teams in the Regions to drive improved NPS
  • Together with the Digital Transformation Team, collaborates on Wawanesa\xe2\x80\x99s Future of Auto Claims Strategy prioritizing and delivering multiple initiatives for our members to report and resolve claims.
  • Fosters a continuous improvement environment with change management strategies to respond to both employee resistance and acceptance so genuine understanding and commitment can occur.
  • Oversees and coaches a team to ensure the work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding, and employees experience their full potential while contributing to the achievement of Wawanesa\'s goals.
  • Owns the auto relationship with Procurement/Strategic Sourcing to develop strong preferred networks, including the plans to operationalize, and monitor trends within the regions
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with regional partners and operations leadership teams, communicating changes and seeking input
  • Maintains regular communication with the Corporate Actuarial team, ensuring that claims process changes are understood and quantified
  • Leverages data trends such as performance, volume, timeliness, service levels, etc. that support our ability to deliver industry best outcomes, superior customer service, and consistency in reserving practices and claims settlements
  • Prepares and monitors budget for assigned area and monitors expense trends against claims volume and market variables
  • Stays informed of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends as they relate to the insurance industry adhering to all statutory and regulatory requirements, fair claims practices and local compliance requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • Ability to prioritize, develop, and implement comprehensive plans and solutions that bridge complex issues spanning across time.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues and make strategic recommendations and decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with the ability to effectively convey ideas in a persuasive manner.
  • Ten years of Property & Casualty, Litigation experience an asset with three years in a leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education, and/or completed CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and gain respect, credibility, and confidence from others.
