Our Civil Infrastructure Team in Asset Management & Maintenance is seeking a Director of Civil Structures SOGR Delivery. Reporting to the Vice President, Civil Infrastructure, this Director will be accountable for the delivery of state-of-good-repair (SOGR) capital projects consisting of mainly of repair, rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing rail carrying bridges and structures. The following describes the ideal candidate for this role, in order of priority: * Leadership Acumen - demonstrates the soft skills and acuity to inspire a high performing team and build partnerships with key internal stakeholders
  • Capital Delivery - possesses a track record of successfully planning/programing and delivering complex public infrastructure projects in a highly constrained environment
  • Railway Knowledge - in addition to the typical suite of construction health and safety regulations, understands the specific rules and restrictions related to working within a railway corridor
  • Engineering Expertise - possesses both education and experience in the practice of civil/structural/bridge engineering
What will I be doing?
  • Accountable for the implementation of a pipeline of State of Good Repair (SOGR) projects with a focus on the delivery of repairs, rehabilitation and reconstruction of railway bridges and structures, by leading a Team of project management professionals
  • Collaborating, consulting and coordinating with Subject Matter Experts on the Civil Structures Asset Management and Engineering Teams on the programming and planning a pipeline of Civil Structures SOGR projects
  • Partnering with Rail Corridor Access and Safety to facilitate safe delivery of SOGR works within the corridor
  • Strategizing, in consultation with Commercial Management, the most efficient approach to retaining the resources needed to deliver a pipeline of SOGR projects
  • Liaising with regulatory entities to ensure compliance with prevailing regulatory policies, best practices, and emerging trends
  • Monitoring and reporting on the status of the project pipeline, intervening and providing course corrections, as needed
  • Maturing project management practices and procedures, with a focus on progress not perfection
  • Empowering, mentoring and inspiring a team of professionals, valuing their skills and recognizing their contributions
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering, or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated progressive senior experience in the delivery of public infrastructure capital projects
  • Demonstrated progressive people leadership experience
  • Have or can obtain a Professional Engineering license in the Province of Ontario within one year
  • Certification in Canadian/Metrolinx Rail Operating Rules is an asset
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act to monitor and manage employees and contractors executing SOGR projects
  • Project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants
