Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, the inaugural Director, Civic Facilities provides senior-level leadership in the strategic planning, operations, stewardship, and long-term development of the City's civic facilities portfolio. With a focus on asset management, service excellence, sustainability, and operational resilience, this position ensures that all City-owned and City-supported facilities are safe, accessible, well-maintained, and aligned with civic priorities. The Director is responsible for advancing capital renewal and modernization programs, guiding strategic initiatives such as energy efficiency and emergency readiness, and integrating facility operations with asset management systems. They also play a key role in cross-departmental planning and provide expert guidance to City leadership and Council, as well as overseeing emergency preparedness for facilities, leading sustainability and energy initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory and occupational health and safety standards, and fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline plus multiple years of progressive management experience in facilities operations or capital asset planning, preferably within the public sector. They will bring a strong foundation in asset management, with demonstrated success leading high- performing teams in complex, unionized, and service-oriented environments. They are both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to move seamlessly between operational priorities and long-term planning initiatives. They lead with consistency, integrity, and a deep sense of accountability.
The targeted salary range for this position is $145,752 - $169,548 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
