As Director, Application Strategy & Resiliency, and part of the Operational Effectiveness (OE) group in Personal & Commercial Operations (PCO), you will be responsible for overseeing the strategy, delivery, and resiliency of the portfolio of Business Managed Applications (BMAs) within PCO. This BMA portfolio includes a mix of .NET Web and Desktop applications, as well as End-User Developed Applications (EUDAs) such as Excel with VBA. In this role, you will ensure alignment with organizational goals, operational resiliency, and transformational initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will report to the Senior Director, Tech Design & Resiliency within the Operational Effectiveness group which is part of Personal & Commercial Operations.
Please note this is an in-office role with a minimum of 4 days in office per week.
What will you do?
Work with the Solution Architecture team to define and implement the strategy for the BMA portfolio to align with the broader objectives of OE and PCO
Establish governance frameworks for the development, maintenance, and rationalization of BMAs and EUDAs
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements
Oversee the delivery of BMA projects, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes
Manage the lifecycle of BMAs, including development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
Identify and mitigate risks associated with BMAs, including technical debt and operational vulnerabilities
Work closely with team members across other OE teams as well as various PCO teams, to ensure BMAs align to strategic objectives and meet business needs
Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable deliverables
Partner with external vendors and internal technology teams to drive innovation and efficiency
Lead and mentor a team of professionals responsible for the BMA portfolio
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the team
Build capacity and capability within the team to support current and future needs
Contribute to transformational programs within PCO and the broader organization, leveraging BMAs to drive operational efficiency and innovation
Identify opportunities to modernize and optimize BMAs, including migration to cloud-based solutions or integration with enterprise platforms
Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of BMAs to support critical business operations
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of BMAs
Drive automation and process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness

Operational Effectiveness teams, various Personal & Commercial Operations teams, Application Custodians, and other technology stakeholders
Key External Relationships:
Vendors and third-party service providers supporting BMAs
What will you need to succeed?
Must-have
Proven experience in managing a portfolio of applications
Strong understanding of application development, delivery, and lifecycle management
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Knowledge of governance, compliance, and risk management practices in large financial institutions
Professional oral and written communication and strong presentation skills, and ability to communicate and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to define and execute a vision for the BMA portfolio
Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide a team toward achieving goals
Deep understanding of application development and management
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills to address complex challenges
Nice to have
Experience in transformational programs, particularly in operational or technology-driven initiatives
Background in Operations, with a focus on process optimization and efficiency
Familiarity with cloud migration strategies and modern application architectures
