What is the opportunity?




The Director will lead the strategy and execution of the next horizon of our data strategy, driving the transformation and change management associated with our risk practices.

This role is responsible for providing risk management guidance, data strategy and solutioning to consolidate Banking Book risk metrics across the enterprise for reporting and analytics (Market Risk in the Banking Book and IRRBB). This role is also responsible for building and leading the ALM Risk transformation function, ensuring an efficient and clear expansion of BSLR's capacity to monitor and perform analysis including stress testing on Corporate Treasury and Banking Book exposures.

What will you do?



Creates the strategy and roadmap of the future state and drives the transformation, change management and data strategy. Defines the goals for the data ecosystem that align with broader MCCR Risk Modernization projects. This includes building both short- and long-term strategies; mapping out data sources; defining key performance indicators to measure success; determining the prioritization of features that fall within the data scope; and tracking usage to identify opportunities for improvement. Responsible for the development of the automated tools that consolidate risk exposures and metrics of the Banking Book, into a centralized SQL database, streamlining reporting capabilities and enabling rollout to the broader BSLR team. Drive the automation of risk data ETL and reporting processes to increase the capacity of the existing team and drive efficiencies. Lead the creation of self-serve dashboards and reporting covering Market Risk and IRRBB. Lead project prioritization to enable completion of critical work to drive financial benefits and offer an enhanced stakeholder experience. Recommend tools and technology to enhance the existing processes. Lead the documentation of the procedures and operational guides for the end-to-end processes and implementation.

What do you need to succeed?



Must-have



Deep expertise/thought leadership with respect to business optimization and benefit measurement. Strong Data management skills and knowledge of technology, prior experience in a risk management or financial areas and strong understanding of RBC risk practices. University degree or equivalent experience in Data technology and automation. Excellent communication, business writing skills, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, program delivery and project execution. Strategic mindset and ability to synthesize information to frame messages effectively for senior leadership. Strong people leadership and change leadership skills. Ability to disrupt and challenge the status quo.

Nice-to-have



MBA, MA or MS or equivalent with emphasis in finance, economics or a quantitative discipline (CFA, FRM or other related professional qualifications) Deep understanding of the bank's balance sheet composition and business lines
