Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:Position Summary:The Director of Academic Affairs provides high-level strategy, project, and policy support in the development and execution of Provostial goals. The incumbent serves as relationship manager with a number of external institutions and entities affiliated with the University. The incumbent also oversees tri-campus responsibilities and projects; analyzes and provides advice on non-routine agreements and contracts; and provides tri-campus oversight, direction and strategic advice on academic integrity matters at the University. In addition, the incumbent leads and/or serves as project manager for Provostial or University working groups, represents the Provost\'s Division on central committees and working groups, and assists with issues management.The Director is responsible for providing strategic input and support in developing, implementing and championing various projects and initiatives, and briefs the Provost and Vice-Provosts on key issues. The Incumbent is responsible for managing the relationship with a number of external entities and institutions; drafting and editing of non-routine contracts and agreements; being point-of-contact for deans, other central offices, and CAO\'s regarding contracts; and providing leadership with respect to matters involving academic integrity, academic appeals, and strategic provostial initiatives. The Incumbent provides back-up support to the Assistant Provost, and monitors external developments and issues of public policy for their impact on the Provost\'s priorities and the University.Qualifications Required:Education:

  • University degree required, post graduate degree (Master\'s or Ph.D) an asset, or equivalent in education and experience. Law degree and legal experience an asset.
Experience:
  • Minimum seven (7) years\' experience in a University setting in progressively senior administrative support positions.
  • Extensive experience with the University and knowledge of university policies and procedures and an understanding of the university\'s organizational structure, including its governance.
  • Experience leading complex and multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Knowledge about media, protocol, diplomacy and an excellent understanding of the University\'s mission and intersection with the broader community.
Skills:
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (must be able to set up templates and macros in Word and Excel, set up Excel spreadsheets and graphics, and prepare sophisticated Powerpoint presentations), Internet, Acrobat, and scheduling software.
Other:
  • Strong research, writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of political acuity, professionalism and judgement.
  • Ability to establish credibility and work with senior University Officers in a manner which facilitates cooperation and consensus building.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, discretion, and tact.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Superior organizational skills in planning, project management and task coordination.
  • Flexibility and problem solver orientation and strong leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
