Your new role




Reporting to the Deputy Project Director, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for establishing a quality assurance program for the Windfall mining project and ensuring its execution. This person ensures that all systems, equipment, buildings, and documents related to construction and equipment suppliers meet quality standards as well as regulatory and contractual requirements prior to their acceptance, transfer, or commissioning. This role provides independent oversight by Gold Fields of the QA/QC performance of the engineering firms, the EPCM firm, and the contractors.


Main Responsibilities:

Provide guidance on inspection and test plans, and approve inspection and test plans, quality plans, and quality management plans. Work closely with the EPCM firm in order to:
o Ensure the review and approval of the EPCM firm's quality program and Quality Surveillance Plan (QSP).


o Lead the review and acceptance of quality deliverables from contractors and suppliers (check sheets, test reports, certificates).


o Monitor and validate the compliance of engineering firms' and contractors' work with quality requirements.


o Review and approve non-conformance reports and deviation requests that may affect the long-term reliability of the asset.


o Review turnover packages prior to mechanical completion.


o Participate in or lead on-site quality inspections, hold points, and QA walkthroughs.

Ensure that QA practices comply with current standards, CNESST regulations, and Gold Fields' internal standards. Report on quality performance to the Gold Fields project management team.

What you'll need to succeed



University degree or technical diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field Minimum 10 years of experience in quality assurance on major industrial or mining projects Experience with EPCM-delivered projects and familiarity with supplier/contractor quality systems (asset) Good understanding of construction methods and QA processes across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, and electrical disciplines Knowledge of Quebec construction regulations, CNESST, CSA standards, and ISO 9001 Bilingual, with the ability to communicate with clients and stakeholders in both French and English Strong project management skills (scope definition, budget and schedule development) Proven leadership to motivate, guide, and continuously align diverse teams Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across various functions and domains
