Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives. As a Direct Support Professional, you will work closely with clients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. Your primary goal will be to enhance the quality of life for those you support through personalized care and companionship.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming. Provide meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients. Offer companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being. Support individuals with mobility challenges, including heavy lifting when necessary. Implement care plans tailored to the specific needs of each client. Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks. Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to supervisors. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

Skills

Experience in dementia care or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of home care practices and assisted living environments. Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide emotional support. Familiarity with meal preparation techniques that cater to dietary restrictions. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members. A background in nursing or healthcare is a plus but not mandatory. Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized living space for clients.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $28.97 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 37.5 per week
