About the Opportunity:
As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide person-centered supports to people residing in the community. You will accomplish this by presenting a holistic approach, helping people to engage in activities that they enjoy. You will encourage building connections and relationships, and you will promote and encourage learning and development in their daily living, building life skills.
Qualifications
No experience required
Grade 12 or equivalency is required
Valid Manitoba Class 5F (Full) Driver's License and access to vehicle, willingness to transport person supported required
Experience, education, or training in the Disability Sector is an asset
Experience working or volunteering in Human Services is an asset
Have good written and verbal communication skills
Be caring, compassionate, patient, respectful, and understanding.
Practice privacy and confidentiality
Clear Adult & Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector. Document will be considered current if obtained no more than 3 months prior to start of employment

Working Conditions:
Interact with family members, staff, visitors, community members, and government agencies.
Travel to and from supported person's homes, and within the community. Be able to travel to Winnipeg when it is needed.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to fifty (50) lbs (sometimes more).
Manual dexterity required to use desktop/laptop computers, or other devices (i.e. tablets).

Additional Information
Wage Scale: $17.50
Hours of Work: shifts may include days, evening, afternoon, weekend, and overnight.
Full-time: From 60 to 80 hours bi-weekly
Part-time: 45 hours bi-weekly
Casual: less than 45 hours bi-weekly
Location: Steinbach, Niverville, St. Anne, and La Broquerie.
