Job Description
Founded in 1954, Community Living Central York is a non-profit, charitable organization which provides support to people who have an intellectual disability. The organization is under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of people who receive support, family members and other members of the community.
In 2024, Community Living Central York was the recipient of the Not-For-Profit of the year at the Central York Chamber of Commerce Business Award, Community Leadership Award and the (ODEN) Disability Employment Service Award for Outstanding Employment Service Provider.
POSITION:
DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (FULL TIME 14 MONTH CONTRACT- CPS Day Program)REPORTING TO:
Manager, Community Initiatives and Employment Strategies.HOURS:
37.5 hours per week (Sun - Thurs Days - 8:30AM TO 4:00PM)HOURLY RATE:
$27.50-$29.19QUALIFICATIONS:
DSW or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of two years experience working with people who have an intellectual disability Ability to support behavioural needs and protocols Previous experience supporting people who have mental health diagnosis and dealing with high anxiety situations Ability to work independently and as a team member Ability to follow and create Support Plans Ability to relate to the specific support needs of the people supported at said location Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Good communication skills including written and verbal Ability to maintain accurate documentation and some experience scheduling Current First Aid, CPR and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certificates Proven use of CPI strategies including verbal de-escalation Training in dispensing medications Valid driver's license, insurance and reliable vehicle Commitment to providing supports to people in accordance with Social Role Valorization Vulnerable Sector Screening
