Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Digital Printing Technician / Head of Printing Operations

to oversee and manage the

Hinterkopf Digital Printing Machine

used for beverage can decoration. This individual will be responsible for maintaining optimal machine performance, ensuring high-quality print output, leading printing operations, and collaborating with design and production teams to deliver premium digital-printed cans to clients.

Overtime Policy:

Up to

2 hours per day

may be required and will

not be considered overtime

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Monitoring

Operate and monitor the

Hinterkopf Digital Printing Machine

during production runs. Ensure consistent print quality, color accuracy, and registration across all cans. Conduct routine checks and calibrations to maintain color standards and print precision.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform daily and periodic maintenance as per manufacturer guidelines. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, software, and printhead-related issues promptly. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and coordinate with OEM support when necessary.

Production Management

Schedule and manage production runs based on orders and delivery timelines. Oversee job setup including color management, artwork alignment, and substrate preparation. Optimize machine utilization and minimize downtime through efficient workflow planning.

Quality Control

Implement and monitor QA protocols for printed cans, including visual inspection, adhesion, and color consistency. Ensure compliance with company quality standards and customer specifications.

Team Leadership (for Head Role)

Lead, train, and supervise printing technicians and helpers. Collaborate with prepress, filling, and packaging teams for seamless production flow. Drive continuous improvement in printing efficiency and waste reduction.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed records of production batches, color profiles, and machine performance. Prepare periodic reports on productivity, maintenance, and print quality metrics.

Qualifications:

Experience:

Minimum

3-5 years

of hands-on experience operating

Hinterkopf

or other high-end digital can printing systems (e.g., Tonejet, Velox, or similar).

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of

digital printing technology

,

UV curing

, and

inkjet systems

. Proficiency in

color management (CMYK, ICC profiling)

. Familiarity with

RIP software

and

machine control interfaces

.

Education:

Diploma or Degree in Printing Technology, Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.

Other Skills:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. Good communication and leadership skills (for supervisory/head role). Willingness to work flexible shifts as required by production schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with

metal substrate printing

or the

beverage packaging industry

. Knowledge of

color calibration tools

such as X-Rite or Barbieri. Basic understanding of

PLC controls

and

industrial automation

systems.
