Under the Direction of the Director, Information & Learning Technology, and working closely with the Director, University of Toronto Electronic Music Studio, the Digital and Music Production Assistant will play a critical role in assessing and integrating high quality audio visual (AV) solutions and infrastructure throughout the Faculty of Music. Responsibilities will include setting-up and maintaining audio/visual systems, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues, performing preventive maintenance on audio-visual equipment, and responding to service requests in a timely fashion. The Assistant will contribute to the mission and diverse research, teaching, and musical activities of the Faculty of Music by supporting technology-mediated contemporary music (e.g., live electronics), managing and maintaining the equipment of a professional studio, and being a key player in the design and operation of the Information & Learning Technology area\xe2\x80\x99s recording service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides
  • Scheduling audio-visual equipment bookings
  • Coordinating the booking and delivery of classroom audio-visual equipment with contacts
  • Planning and implementing components of IT related projects
  • Editing post-production audio and/or visual material
  • Tracking service metrics to inform continuous service improvements
  • Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of recent and relevant experience assessing, recommending, contributing to the design of AV systems, preferably in a post-secondary environment. Experience setting up and supporting live electronics in the performance of contemporary music a must.
  • Experience managing and implementing projects and priorities, including a strong understanding of the application of project management methodology.
  • In-depth and demonstrated knowledge with AV technology and ability to keep abreast of developments in AV technology, with a strong emphasis on user experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the following required: audio over IP systems (DANTE); SSL AWS console family in a Dolby Atmos environment; maintenance and operation of Sony F family of cameras and associated lenses (e.g., FS7, FX3, and lenses); Pro Tools, Cubase, and Logic Pro DAW software for audio recording, editing, and sound design/production; Adobe PremierePro video software for video editing and batch creation of motion graphics; Allen & Heath SQ mixer series, and performing basic repair and maintenance of professional studio equipment, including to internal circuitry.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Superior organizational and analytical/diagnostic skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, a quick learner with a strong customer service focus and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, meets strict deadlines and has sound judgment.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $76,284 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,556. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
