The opportunity:



The University of Manitoba is looking for a Digital Media Specialist. This position is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and creating multimedia such as videos, audio recordings, animations and other interactive materials to support the Centre, UM and provincial mandates of teaching and learning. In addition, the Digital Media Specialist will provide consultation to Faculties and faculty members for courses, programs and initiatives that require multi-media support. As an important member of cross-functional teams, this role is also a subject matter expert in digital content in video UM courses and for the University. The Digital Media Specialist needs to work in a variety of digital platforms including social media, websites, and the University's Learning Management System (LMS) and with specialized digital media production tools and software. The Digital Media Specialist is also responsible for building course content in the LMS, organization and maintenance of production materials, documentation and tracking of processes for multimedia development; and providing training to instructors on media content creation. This position also ensures that digital materials adhere to prescribed editorial guidelines, copyright and accessibility legislation.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



Undergraduate degree in Media Arts, Animation and Digital Arts, or related field is required. Diploma in Advanced Digital Media Design (or similar) with emphasis on web development and/or video production would be preferred. A minimum of two year of directly-related experience is required. Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Acrobat, Photoshop, Premier, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition) and Microsoft Office is required. Must have experience and expertise in video, audio, image editing software and web software (e.g., After Effects, Premier, HTML5, Camtasia, CSS, JavaScript and other motion graphics). Experience with developing interactive learning content and multi-media creation required (e.g., YuJa, Articulate). Knowledge of processes and equipment and tools needed for responsive web design, video production, streaming and interactive media required. Experience and knowledge of learning management systems preferred. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Excellent communication skills: must be able to communicate in writing and verbally with designers, faculty and staff, and colleagues. Must have advanced technology skills in multimedia design and graphics, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, After Effects, CSS and Microsoft Office. Proofreading, accuracy, attention to detail and organizational skills are required. Must demonstrate creativity and artistic talent. Must have the abilities to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks at the same time, and work on own initiative. The ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and faculty is required. Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
