Position Title: Digital Media Services Operator- (Part-Time, As Required)

Reports To: Manager, Digital Media Services

Salary Range: $29.73-$32.68 Hourly

Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (Hybrid Work)

The Media Services Operator will be an expert user of a wide range of software and hardware tools to provide ingest, video encoding, live web streaming, web video publishing, non-linear editing and closed captioning services to all TVO products including Current Affairs & Documentaries, TVOKids and The Independent Learning Centre (ILC).

How you will make an impact

• Digitize, encode and publish video to be presented on multiple platforms
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues, meeting all technical and QC criteria
• Manage daily live web and social media streams
• Format edit content for conventional broadcast and online platforms using Adobe Premiere
• Create, edit, QC and fix closed caption files
• Convert \xe2\x80\x9cRoll Up\xe2\x80\x9d captions to \xe2\x80\x9cPop On\xe2\x80\x9d to meet Canadian Industry specifications
• Correct and compare caption files for monthly Live Closed Captioning Accuracy report.
• Update and confirm technical metadata
• Provide customer service to internal client departments including Content & Programming, Engineering, and Producers
• Perform regularly scheduled deletes (SAN, Publish Points, Editing Systems, FTP, Aspera Shares)
• Shift work will be required
• Some weekends/holidays and overtime might be needed
• Daily monitoring and maintaining shared email account
• Other duties as assigned

What you will bring to TVO

• College Diploma in Broadcasting or equivalent work experience
• 1 - 3 years of experience in a broadcast environment
• Familiarity with digital workflow and broadcast signal distribution is an asset
• Familiarity with non-linear editing system is an asset
• Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and client departments
• Comfortable communicating with operational counterparts at external vendors and distributors
• Superior analytical skills to appropriately handle trouble shooting requirements
• Ability to focus, multi-task and remain calm under pressure
• Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation
• Ability to accurately complete standard written reports
