Creative Assistant (Freelance / Contractor)

Rate: $25.85/hour
Hours: Casual, approx. 10 hours/week with intention to grow
DH Photography is a commercial photography business specializing in food, portraiture, travel, and non-profit work. Our focus is on storytelling with impact, and our clients range from restaurants and hotels - to non-profits and govt institutions.
The Creative Assistant will provide support to a content-forward marketing studio that helps brands grow through thoughtful digital strategy and consistent execution, while also being involved in customer relations, booking shoots, production assisting in both photography and videography shoots, and editing for asset creation.
Responsibilities:
Social media scheduling, social media management, and admin tasks
Managing CRM tools for booking and invoicing clients
Video editing for Reels and Stories
Assisting with shoot prep and on-set photography/Videography production assistant
Responding to inquiries and helping with client communications
Research and idea generation for content and campaigns
Ideal Candidate:
Is a people person, understands customer service and UX principles, has good banter
Organized, reliable, and self-motivated
Has a genuine interest in photography, storytelling, and creative marketing
Experience managing social media accounts
Tech savvy - able to learn new programs
Good grasp of ChatGPT and an interest in AI
Desired but not critical: experience with Lightroom, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, Pixieset, Later, Slack
Comfortable working independently, asking questions, and taking initiative
Eager to learn and grow with flexible, evolving tasks
Could suit a student or someone looking to add to their existing work schedule
Where and when:
This role has the option to be remote or work from Haus of Owl on Blanshard Street
Hours are semi flexible as to when the tasks are completed however daily communication is required and the idea is to put in at least some time on each day, Monday-Friday*
The first ten hours/week will be desk focussed, with any photoshoot/production assistant work offered on top if you're able to make it
