Job Description

As the ideal candidate, you have experience in a library public service environment modeling excellent customer service, and in the development and delivery of technology training for staff and customers. Diplomatic and collaborative, you excel at working in a team environment and in supporting the learning of others. You will use your superb technology, training and organizational skills to help develop, deliver and promote EPL's digital literacy services and programs. You will monitor new developments in technology, makerspaces and library programming to develop and pilot innovative programs and activities throughout EPL. Your knowledge of EPL's digital content and services allows you to help our staff deal with challenging problems involving content, licensing and diverse personal devices.


Reporting to the Branch Manager and coordinating activities with the other Digital Literacy Librarians through the Digital Literacy Team, you will champion digital literacy services, ensuring they are driven by customer and community needs in keeping with EPL's Community-Led Service Philosophy. Using your passion for digital literacy library services, you will promote a learning environment, working with staff to develop their digital literacy confidence, skills and capacity.


You are committed to intellectual freedom and other key principles of librarianship and you will uphold and model the ideals found in the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion. Job Requirements

:Master of Library and Information Studies degree, or equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution is required. Experience developing and delivering library services and programs, with a focus on technology-based services.

What do you need to bring to this position?



Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, training and collaboration skills. Ability to assess community interests and needs, and to plan and deliver services accordingly, in keeping with the Library's business plan and strategic directions. Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs for staff and customers of all ages and from a wide variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds. Demonstrated aptitude for using technology and ability to apply to library services and programs. Expertise with technology including PC's, Apple computers and devices, Microsoft Office applications, mobile devices, eReaders and new, emerging technology. A commitment to uphold the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.

Note:



This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts. Digital Literacy Librarians are subject to variable hours of work as per the Collective Agreement and shift length may vary based on operation needs. Satisfactory background screening is required for this position, which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.

Hours of Work:



35 hours per week



Pay Band:



$42.15 - $53.80 per hour
Approximately $77,015 - $98,292 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.

Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.
