About the Opportunity At Urban, we are on a mission to build vibrant communities and our company-wide Communications team is searching for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing organization as a Digital Content Creator. As part of the company-wide team, the Digital Content Creator will work with both Urban Systems content and will also support external communications and engagement client projects at Urban. As a Digital Content Creator, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Digital content production – social media content and video snippets, website updates, Story Map development, infographics, writing
  • Researching industry-related digital communication methods for clients on different and emerging platforms
  • Preparation of well-structured drafts using digital publishing platforms
  • Collaborate with industry professionals (engineers, planners, technologists and more) and incorporate their views into content for various digital platforms
  • Editing and proofreading pieces before publication
  • Promoting content on social networks and monitor engagement
  • Collaborating with the Communications Team to develop our storytelling and content plan on various digital platforms
As this position is part of our company-wide communications support team, it is possible to work out of a variety of locations including Calgary, Vancouver, Surrey, and Kelowna. In this role, you will work directly with all branches to support business development and will support company-wide internal initiatives, as well as company-wide external communications.
About You Our focus is on finding the right person to add to our team who is inspired by the work we do and our culture. We will consider various educational backgrounds, past experience with the listed relevant skills, and a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Content Creator, Social Media Specialist, or similar role. The following attributes, skills and experience will help you thrive:
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Interest in communicating community impact stories and increasing thought leadership in the industries we work in (through podcasts, social media, website, events, and other storytelling opportunities)
  • Ability to identify market story trends and recommend new topics
  • A passion and drive for story telling on digital platforms and furthering your learning in this area
