Job Overview:



The Digital Content & Communications Coordinator is responsible for shaping, managing, and maintaining the online presence of Railtown Cafe and Railtown Catering. This part-time role blends creative storytelling, web content management, and digital marketing support. The Coordinator will develop engaging visual and written content across social media, the company website, and blog channels, ensuring consistent brand messaging and an authentic representation of both the cafe and catering divisions.

The role works closely with the General Manager (Cafe) and Director of Events (Catering) to align creative efforts with business goals, seasonal campaigns, and promotional initiatives.

Responsibilities



Content Creation & Digital Strategy:



Develop and execute engaging content strategies across all digital platforms, including social media, website, and blog. Create, curate, and manage content for Railtown Cafe and Railtown Catering websites, including page updates, photography, menus, blog articles, and event features. Capture and edit original photography and video content onsite at cafe locations and off-site catering events. Design visual content (graphics, stories, reels) using Canva or similar tools, maintaining consistency with brand tone and style. Draft and publish blog posts highlighting seasonal offerings, behind-the-scenes stories, and community features.

Collaboration & Messaging Alignment:

Work closely with the Assistant GM and Director of Events to align web and social content with seasonal promotions, new product launches, and overall marketing goals. Maintain consistent messaging and visual identity across all channels while distinguishing the unique voices of the cafe and catering brands. Collaborate with internal staff to source stories, photography, and event highlights for digital storytelling.

Community Engagement & Customer Experience:

Monitor and respond to messages, comments, and online inquiries promptly and professionally. Support community engagement initiatives, influencer collaborations, and partner features. Escalate customer service concerns to the appropriate internal teams as necessary.

Web & Analytics:

Regularly review website performance and content accuracy; coordinate updates with internal teams or web developers when needed. Track analytics across social and web platforms (Google Analytics, Instagram Insights, etc.) to measure engagement and growth. Prepare monthly performance summaries with recommendations for improvement. Stay current on emerging digital trends, SEO best practices, and content optimization opportunities.

Marketing Support:

Assist with digital promotions for key events, holidays, and campaigns. Support paid social and web advertising initiatives. Manage influencer or brand ambassador collaborations. Provide creative input for photography, website visuals, and marketing materials.

Non-Essential Functions:

Participate in company events, marketing meetings, or other special projects as needed.

Qualifications + Preferred Skills:



Education:

Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

Experience:

2-4 years of professional experience in content creation, digital marketing, or communications. Experience managing web content (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar CMS platforms). Experience in the food, hospitality, or events industry is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written communication and storytelling skills. Strong understanding of content strategy, SEO basics, and analytics. Proficiency with Canva; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and basic photo editing preferred. Comfortable with CMS tools for website editing and blog publishing. Skilled in social media management and scheduling platforms (Later, Hootsuite, etc.). Photography and video editing experience (iPhone or DSLR). Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Up-to-date knowledge of digital trends and algorithms.
