As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to strengthen and promote health protection to patients, staff and members of the public attending in the hospital, prior to the first day of employment with the Hospital, all successful candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (full vaccination is required) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source. An individual is fully vaccinated if they have provided proof of vaccination in the form of a receipt from COVaxON (the Ministry\'s provincial system for COVID-19 vaccination information) and 14 days have elapsed from the final dose. In the event that you are unable to be vaccinated as a result of a ground protected under the Human Rights Code, you may submit a written explanation of the ground and any supporting documentation to determine if you are exempt from this requirement.

Position Summary

The Digital Communications Specialist will play an essential role in informing and engaging the diverse community working at and served by North York General Hospital and its other six sites. In this role, you will bring your expertise and experience to enable NYGH to significantly enhance its presence, brand and relationships through digital and communications including social media, website, news media, signage and marketing collateral, the intranet and events. This role is key to advancing communications needs for all the organization\'s strategic priorities including its mandate as a leading community academic hospital, new research and innovation strategies, capital redevelopment plan and NYGH\'s leading and evolving clinical programs. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Develop and lead implementation of an integrated digital communications strategy and plans for corporate priorities, leveraging key social media and other digital communications platforms.
  • Identify, assess and incorporate best practices and new methods to enhance the effectiveness of NYGH\'S digital and communications as a key part of integrated communications and marketing plans.
  • Track, measure and analyze performance of NYGH\'s digital and communications including website, media relations and social media .
  • Develop website and social media content - writing, graphical content, audio, video (development and editing and photography) and multi-media.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies using digital communications and marketing methods including SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) to support high visibility and engagement of target stakeholders and audiences and drive strategic objectives.
  • Effectively employ website content management and social media management systems and apply your experience in website development and management, in collaboration with our third-party website development and hosting partner.
  • Oversee the procurement, design and development of a new intranet platform and optimize, refresh the design of the website content management system
Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a University degree or postgraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or other disciplines relevant to this role required.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience specializing in digital communications required.
  • Demonstrate experience in planning, designing, developing and launching web platforms- external and/or internal.
  • Ability to manage websites using common content management platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced and skilled at writing and creating compelling and strategic content for multiple audiences and platforms.
  • Experience or familiarity with using graphic design applications such as InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experienced in digital and email marketing methods, social media platforms and monitoring, and online analytics and publishing tools. (e.g. Sprout Social, Hootsuite, MailChimp, ISSUU, WordPress, Facebook Power Editor, Ads Manager, Google Analytics).
  • Experience working within a healthcare organization or broader public sector setting required.
  • Member of the International Association of Business Communicators or a similar professional organization is an asset.

This is a Full-Time Regular position, with 75 hours bi-weekly, 8 hour shift, day shift, in Corporate Communication and Public Relations.
