The Digital Communications Manager provides strategic communications advice in support of the organization\'s vision and mission and has experience advising senior leaders; managing complex digital communications issues; and leading projects and large-scale public and corporate events, many of which have digital considerations. The incumbent is a skilled communicator and a strategic thinker with an acute understanding of digital communication trends and tools. As such, the incumbent initiates, develops, researches, executes, manages and evaluates digital communications plans and strategies for a range of projects, issues, events and other initiatives.The Digital Communications Manager has day-to-day responsibility for assessing, initiating, planning, developing and maintaining a suite of digital communications channels and tools that assist the organization in effectively communicating key information to patients, families, employees and other audiences. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and managing the organization\'s content strategy for all social/digital platforms and manages work related to digital communications, including but not limited to, the public website, employee intranet, social media platforms, online advertising and promotion, information screens network, digital wayfinding system, internal email newsletters and other platforms/products as required.The manager is an expert writer who has the ability to grasp complex medical and technical information and communicate it in an easy-to-understand manner. The role requires the ability to write and develop compelling materials for print and digital media, as well as the technical aptitude to manage digital and social media platforms, to analyze data and measure success, to understand user experience and visual communication principles and to liaise with technical staff. The manager balances competing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent participates on several committees; liaises with partners on joint communications initiatives; and seeks opportunities to proactively promote the organization\'s positive stories.Reporting to the Senior Director of Provincial Digital Strategy, this position provides communications advice and develops plans and tactics to meet identified goals and needs of digital projects. The manager works closely with members of the communications department within a small team environment, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and engages partners to achieve results. The manager must have the ability to lead work independently, multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing needs and stay current with industry standards and emerging communication technologies. The manager acts with integrity, possesses good judgement and exemplifies NL Health Services corporate values. The manager should also have the ability to work outside of regular working hours and to travel to other sites, as required.Job Qualifications
Education
Successful completion of a bachelor\'s degree in communications, public relations, digital communications, journalism or related area is required.Membership and/or affiliation with professional associations like the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Canadian Public Relations Association, the Canadian College of Health Leaders or Canadian Health Executive designation may be an asset.Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the communications, public relations, digital communications field is required.
Experience leading digital projects, advising senior managers and colleagues, and managing digital communications is required.
Extensive experience in digital and social communications and planning.
Experience managing a wide range of digital communications platforms, such as WordPress and other content management systems, and social media tools/technology in a business environment is required.
Experience working in communications with internal and external partners is required.
Proficiency with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Campaign and Hootsuite is required.
Experience with digital marketing and knowledge of SEO, growth tracking, ROI, web-related analysis and other metrics is a preferred.
Experience working in a leadership role is an asset.
Considerable project management experience is preferred.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
