Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager Nutrition Services, this position works with a high degree of independence to improve the health of the population using a range of health promotion strategies. This position identifies initiates, develops, implements and evaluates evidence informed health promotion strategies for universal and targeted populations based on priorities identified by Population and Public Health. The focus of practice is delivery of nutrition in health promotion, health protection, and illness/injury prevention. This position is also responsible for interpretation and communication of current scientific information to health professionals and public regarding food & nutrition. The position involves liaising, consulting and collaborating with internal staff and community stakeholders.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA). Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to interpret and convey nutrition requirements and recommendations across the life span in practical ways. Self-directed with expertise in acquiring, assessing, analyzing, interpreting and communicating scientific evidence to different audiences. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in population health promotion. Experience with multidisciplinary health care teams with inter-disciplinary/inter-sector systems and with community-based services. Expert knowledge of Public Health Nutrition. Knowledge and experience in working with diverse populations Completion of graduate level course in public health would be an asset.
