Your Opportunity:

The Dietitian I - Blood Tribe, is a front-line professional position reporting to the Manager of Nutrition Services, South Zone. As the Dietitian you will be responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating nutrition care plans for clients in long-term care at the Kainai Continuing Care Center, outpatients and community settings in the Blood Tribe. You will also support the facilitation of group nutrition classes using nutrition counselling for behaviour change as appropriate to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/ groups in facilities or community settings as part of the Kainai Diabetes Program. In this role you will have the opportunity to build partnerships in this vibrant community culture and make efforts to include traditional practices, as well as traditional food pathways in both group and individual settings. The Dietitian works with a multidisciplinary team at the Blood Tribe Department of Health as well as with Nutrition Services dietitians in Alberta Health Services. About the Blood Tribe: The Blood Tribe/Kainai is located in southern Alberta on the Blood Indian Reserve. It boasts 549.7 square miles for its base, with agriculture as the primary industry as well as gemstone mining, house construction, oil and gas development and small business and tourism. The tribe has a population of approximately 12,800 (2015) members including both on reserve and off reserve.

Description:

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA). Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of population public health nutrition including a sound understanding of nutrition across the lifespan. Strong networking and communication skills to be able to develop and sustain positive community partnerships. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and community partners as a team. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years\' experience as a Dietitian. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Experience with working in First Nations communities. Experience with leading and facilitating groups. Experience in nutrition counselling for health behavior change. Knowledge and experience with virtual health applications for patient care and group facilitation (Zoom, telehealth and teleconference).
