The Dietary Aide performs tasks which do not require professional training. The Dietary Aide assists the Cook and Director of Food Services in preparation of meals, sanitation of the kitchen area and distribution of those meals to the residents.
1. Help cook prepare food for cooking.
2. Cooks' food according to required temperature and procedures as directed (some breakfast and supper items).
3. Garnishes food and ensures that it is attractively arranged for delivery to residents.
4. Serves meals to residents in a professional and courteous manner.
5. Ensures that residents on special diets receive food according to such diets.
6. Cleans cooking area. This includes worktable surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, food storage room and exhaust hood, etc.
7. Helps cook collect and strip trays and tables for washing, clean and reset tables for second sitting.
8. Loads, operates, and empties dishwashers. Puts dishes away.
9. Damp mops floors.
10. Cleans other kitchen equipment such as blenders, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc.
11. Helps prepare snacks.
12. Prepares bread and dishes up desserts.
13. Serves beverages, desserts, bread at mealtime.
14. Check incoming supplies when cook or supervisor are absent. Puts perishables away.
15. Performs all duties in a clean and sanitary manner.
16. Is aware of the Resident Rights and Responsibilities and endeavors to respect and promote it.
17. Attends in-service as required to better serve the dietary needs of the residents.
18. Attends staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in lodge that have taken place.
19. Performs other duties and functions as requested.
